New from Italian RC comes this 2.5mm thick carbon fibre spacer plate for the front of the F104 chassis which lowers your ride height by 2.5mm. Following the success of the past 4 years of the Charity Race organised by Team La Gang and ToniSport at the permanent RC Landia carpet track in Scandiano, the event is back for a 5th year from the 6th to the 8th of December. Born from an idea between Team La Gang and Marc and Toni Rheinard, the event went ahead with a big effort from the organisers along with the support of a whole host of top international drivers and factory teams. Last year thanks to a big auction that they do before the final they raised more than €8,000 which was donated to the department of pediatrics hospital in Scandiano in the form of equipment purchased directly from Team La Gang so they are sure that their money will used in the way that we want. Limited to 120 drivers due to the limited pit space this year, thanks to ToniSport, they will have Marc Rheinard, Viktor Wilck, Ronald Volker, Yannic Prumper and Sandro Kuriger in attendance while thanks to Team Xray they will have Alexander Hagberg, Martin Hudy, Francesco Martini, Alessio Menicucci, Marek Cerny, Niklas Johansson and Marco Kaufmann. Also attending the best drivers from all over Italy such as Alessandro Brunelli, Ciaccheri Alessandro, Vignolini Gabriele and Torregiani Luca for a weekend of fun, charity, good food and racing. This past Sunday the Connecticut State Championships were held at Wolcott Hobby and Raceway in Waterbury, Connecticut and Kyle Rhodes wrote this report. ‘The race had 120 entries with drivers from multiple states being present. I competed in 2wd Modified buggy and 4wd Modified Buggy. Fellow Kyosho driver Jimmy James Rivera was also in attendance competing in 2wd Modified Buggy and 1/8th Electric Buggy. Jimmy and myself practiced Thursday before the event and were able to get a good base setup for our Kyosho RB6 rear motor cars for the race.

Tekin have announced the signing of 3-time Australian National Champ Kyle McBride to the team. Kyle will be powered by the latest Tekin RSX ESC and Redline Gen2 motors in his 1/10 Kyosho cars and will also step into the 1/8 E Buggy class powered by the ROAR National championship winning Tekin Rx8 Gen2 ESC and Gen2 T8 motor line up. Kyle had this to say:

Horizon Hobby UK have made the shock announcement that 2012 EFRA 1/8th Offroad European Champion Darren Bloomfield has left the team. Although a reason was not given we should expect a statement from Darren in the coming days or weeks about a future deal. HH released the following statement:
It is with great disappointment and sadness that Horizon / TLR announce the departure of pro-racer Darren Bloomfield after a long 16 year association with the brand that dates back to the early 1990s when he was a young child. His on-track speed and prowess has always been a characteristic trademark for all to see but we wish to acknowledge and thank Darren for his unerring commitment to us as his sponsors throughout the years. Darren has been a great asset to the team and an ambassador for TLR / Horizon and we wish him all the very best for the future, both personally and professionally.

Round two of the Essex Winter Series took place this weekend. With the whole series fully booked months ago, a few drivers were lucky to get places following some last-minute withdrawals. Qualifying got underway and in the Muchmore-sponsored Modified class, UK National Champion Chris Grainger was determined to show his performance at Round One of the championship was just a blip on his radar, as he went quickest in the first round of qualifying. Alan Bickerstaff made his trip from Ireland worthwhile to sit second, with multi-time EWS winner James Hart third. In the second qualifying round, current EWS Pro-Stock Champion Paul Pinkney proved he can cut it in the Modified class too as he topped the timesheets, with Chris second and nitro specialist Kyle Branson. Paul was again fastest in round 3, this time from Phil Chambers with Kyle again third. Kyle then topped the final qualifying round from Stefan Chodzynski, one of the drivers to secure a last minute entry to the event, leaving Paul on pole, with Chris second on the grid and Kyle Branson third.

With the first 2 rounds completed in the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta, it was time for the first race in British Columbia. Round 3 of the non-profit Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series was held on Remembrance Day weekend amid the beautiful mountains of Penticton, B.C. The Penticton Radio Control Club hosted a great event, with 7 classes and championship points all on the line. In the Team Novak sponsored 1/12th Modified class it was the 2012 WCICS champion, Speed Merchant sponsored, Korgae Scales that took TQ & win with his prototype Rev 8, also boasting the fastest lap of the entire weekend, in any class. Followed by one of the closest battles of the entire weekend for 2nd between WCICS President Josh Carter from Alberta driving his Xray, and British Columbia pan car legend, ROAR National winner, Craig Roberts with his CRC. In a classic foam tire battle, 3rd place qualifier Craig’s car was faster earlier in the race and on a tight, technical track he cleanly passed Josh to take second. Then midway through the race Craig’s car started to fall off, and Josh’s settled in and the chase was on. With just 2 laps to go Josh returned the favor with a clean pass to cross the line just a few tenths ahead taking second place.
