The latest addition to AKA’s proprietary compounds is the indoor or “clay” compound. After thorough research and development, the compound has been finely tuned to create maximum traction and performance on clay tracks. The clay compound will be available in 1:8 Buggy, 1:10 Short Course and 1:10 Buggy in many of the tread patterns they currently offer.

Customers and Racers continue to demand higher and higher performance out of 1:8 Buggy Race tires while also requiring tires that last longer and longer. Large center lugs formed into a grid pattern provide the base for the long wear characteristics and unmatched mechanical grip found by all test drivers. The Big Blox tire also features Bow-Tie shaped lugs that scoop the Earth and propel your buggy to the top step of the podium. Great care was taken in detailing the side tread to achieve the same smooth side bite and steering feel found in Pro-Line’s highly successful Blockade Race Tire. SRS Raceway in Scottsdale, AZ hosted the 27th annual Arizona State Championships. A fresh layout was built and a highly prepared surface made for one of the best State races in recent memory. 170 entries came out to compete at one of the largest 2-day state championship events ever at SRS. With the green inspired JConcepts Events T-shirts on-hand the spirit was great in the pit area and everyone was ready to race on the famous high-bite dirt.

Yaiba Racing is a new Japanese brand aimed at releasing new products for competition RC cars, on and off road. Their products have been designed and tested by their experienced design-engineer and produced in Japan. The first products are for the Associated B4 and include a new machined motor plate with heatsink. Made from 3mm thick 7075 aluminium, the special heatsink design allows for more heat dissipation and weight reduction. Next up is the battery plate thumb nuts, also made from aluminium, and a complete set of 12mm clamping hex wheel hubs which stay in place when removing your wheels. Finally there is a big bore shock mount kit for the B4, SC10/T4 and B44 that allow you to attach the 12mm big bore shocks to the current range of off-road cars of Team Associated.
Tekno RC have announced the newest addition to their stable of RC vehicles, the SCT410 1/10th 4×4 Short Course Truck. The SCT410 shares many parts with the EB48 1/8th Electric Buggy, so you know it will be able to carve up the track and take a beating. There are many new parts on the SCT to keep weight to a minimum, including new narrower arms, lighter steering blocks, spindle carriers, rear hubs and an all new lightweight drivetrain. Add some sturdy adjustable body mounts and a front/rear bumper system and you have the SCT that everyone has been waiting for. true 1/8th scale roots with 1/10th scale weight and agility. Standard 12mm hex wheels will bolt right on (SCTE offset) and existing 7.4v SCT power systems will have no trouble pushing the SCT410 around the track. The SCT410 will be sold in race kit form and should be available in January 2013.

Horizon Hobby UK’s David Spashett continued his dominant start to the 2012/13 BRCA 1/12th Scale Nationals by winning both the stock and modified classes at round 2 of the championship. David looked to be in imperious form and cruised to TQ in the 10.5 blinky stock class on Saturday driving a chassis that he has had designed and manufactured himself using Associated suspension parts. At times the Serpent S120 LTX of Chris Kerswell looked like mounting a serious challenge, but despite showing good pace Chris was unable to topple David from the top spot. Mick Farrell was driving the new CRC Xti for the first time at this event and lined up 3rd on the grid ahead of the Associated of Matt White and Mark Stiles, also driving a CRC Xti. Mark looked to have 3rd in the bag during the last qualifier but a late tangle with a back marker dropped him to 5th in the qualifying list.

The JConcepts Winter Indoor Shootout was held this past weekend at Fastlane R/C Raceway in Kansas City, MO. This would be the home track for Kyosho/Team Orion’s Jared Tebo. For this event, Tebo designed the track layout and helped with track maintenance all weekend long. This years event brought in an impressive 248 entries. In the Modified Truck Class, it was Kyosho/Team Orion’s Jared Tebo who would dominate qualifying by TQ’ing all 4 rounds to take the overall TQ.
