SWorkz S12-1 alloy steering plate & steering bellcranks

Coming from SWorkz and made for the S12-1 2WD buggy are two new aluminium option parts. First up is an aluminium Ackermann plate made from high-quality aluminium to make for improved overall strength and steering precision. The black anodised part comes including a set of ball bearings, shims and mounting hardware. Also new and designed to work together with the above Ackermann plate are aluminium steering bellcranks. Like the steering plate the bellcranks come machined from aluminium and they sport a black surface finish for wear and looks. More sturdy than the standard composite parts the alloy bellcranks will improve steering response especially on high-bite surfaces.

2017 Critter Hobbies Hangover Race – Report

Critter Hobbies and Raceway of Fairfield, New Jersey held its first trophy race of the 2017 season this past weekend, the 2017 Hangover Race. With around 80 entries, the most popular classes included 2WD Stock and Modified 2WD and 4WD Buggy while a new track layout, finished up Thursday evening, gave a pretty level playing field for most. 4WD Buggy saw Duane Karlovsky score the top qualifier honors and taking the win. Ian Kiss would take second and Roger Bustos rounded out the Podium.

Finnish Indoor Championship Series Rd3 – Report

Round three of the Finnish Winter Jumps Indoor Championship Series was held in Taipalsaari over the weekend. The carpet track’s layout was pretty technical with many tricky corners and jumps and with both Karri Salmela and Joona Haatanen absent from the event, it was almost too easy for multiple EOS A-finalist Joel Valander to dominate the both the 2WD and 4WD classes. In Saturday’s 2WD class Joel had a strong start as he TQ’d in every qualification round. The Xray driver continued with strong performances in all A-mains as runner-up, VRC Pro double World Champion Markku Honkanen could not quite challenge Joel.

Micha Widmaier wins at LRP-Asso-Challenge

A round of the German LRP-Asso-Challenge was recently held in Köngen in the south of the country. The 4WD Buggy class was TQ’d by SWorkz’s Micha Widmaier and the young man was able to conserve his performance in the main finals, taking home the win from Sven Rodewald (Xray) and Alex Schmitt (HB Racing). In the 2WD class it was again Micha who took the TQ but after the finals it was Sven Rodewald who came out on top while Micha had to settle for second overall in front of Aaron Münster.

Yokomo sign Christopher Krapp to their factory team

Yokomo have announced the signing with 3-times IFMAR World Championship finalist, Reedy Race podium finisher and German National Champion, Christopher Krapp. Christopher will campaign Yokomo’s BD8 electric touring car kit with immediate effect and he will also use the company’s off-road buggies from May when his contract with Schumacher expires. In addition the young German also signed to run Yokomo’s own Racing Performer electric in all of his rides. Christopher says:

First I want to thank my recent car sponsor Team Tamiya/TRF for their support over the last 2 years. It was not the longest time together but we had a very productive time and achieved great results as a team. Personally I want to thank Takayuki Kono and Kiyo Suzuki for being my mechanics in that time. Also I want to thank Team Orion and especially Oscar Jansen for their support in the last decade. They have been supporting me with all electronics since I started RC and I can’t thank them enough for all their efforts! Now it is time for a new challenge and I am very happy to be part of Team Yokomo. I will also use their line of electronics for my Onroad and Offroad cars throughout 2017 and 2018. I will start using the touring car and electronics from now on followed by the offroad cars from 1st May 2017. I can’t wait to work with the whole Team and my first big event will be the TITC in February. See you on track!

Kaja Novotny doubles at Lestr Cup Rd4

The fourth round of the Lestr Cup was held this past weekend in Prague, Czech Republic. In the 2WD qualifiers Xray’s Kaja Novotny took a clean TQ by coming out fastest in all qualifiers ahead of the Xray trio of Mudra, Miksovsky and Gotzl. Q1 of 4WD saw Kaja struggling in the high-bite conditions which gave Milan Mudra the round TQ, however swift runs in Q2 and Q3 meant the overall top qualifying position for Kaja while Mudra and Gotzl lined up in second and third.
 The 2WD A-mains saw Kaja in dominant form again and he came out on top by winning all three mains in style. Milan Mudra would end the say on the 2 spot from Max Gotzl in third.

Evo Workshop MRX-6 & 977 enhance balance chassis

Coming from Evo Workshop are two aluminium main chassis for the Mugen MRX-6 and the Serpent 977 Evo and Evo 2. The enhance balance chassis are designed to provide optimised flex and thus improved overall performance at pretty much every track condition. Both are made from high-quality Alcoa 7075-T6 material and they are direct replacements for the respective stock parts.

Ralph Burch returns to Serpent

Serpent have announced the signing of 2010 IFMAR 1/10th Nitro Touring World Champion, Ralph Burch to their team. The 32-times ROAR National Champion will return to Serpent as driver and also sales promoter, campaigning the manufacturers Project 4X touring car and later on also Serpent’s nitro on-road kits. Additionally Ralph will also be working for Serpent America/Desoto Racing as sales promoter and to support dealers and drivers with all Serpent-related matters.

I’m really excited to be returning to Serpent America. I look forward to working with the team and Serpent America dealers. Serpent has always had some of the best engineered cars in the industry, so I cant wait to get started. See you at the track soon.
