Round four of the BRCA 1/8th Nitro Buggy Nationals was held in Pembrey, Wales over the weekend. The track was pretty tight with an oiled surfaces which would hold up well albeit for some holes that appeared. The 45-minute A-main was won by Agama’s Darren Bloomfield from Mugen driver Lee Martin and Milan Dragojlovic (Kyosho) in second and third respectively. Jack Embling and Simon Willetts completed the top 5 result.
Teamsaxo have released first renderings of their forthcoming F1-180V2 1/10th formula car. The kit will offer multiple battery mounting positions including transversal and inline mounted packs, it features a centrally mounted laydown steering servo mount, a single bellcrank steering and front arms made up of carbon fibre sheet material with inserts allowing for easy caster adjustments. More information and images will become available in time for the release.
Foshan in the Southern part of China played host to the MRC Buggy Summer Race this past weekend. The track’s maiden race for the 2016 season attracted both local drivers and also participants from Hong Hong to race in several 1/8th off-road classes. In the premier category of 1/8th Nitro Buggy it was young Jonathan Yeung who took the winning honours, coming from the 2 spot on the grid. At first Jonathan was hindered by traffic but he kept his cool and with fast and consistent laps the 14-years old would soon start to chase leader Mr. Li and at about the 30-minute mark Jonathan was able to make use of a mistake by the leader, promoting Jonathan into the lead. From that moment Yeung and Li would swap the lead several times and on the final lap things got even more interesting as both made mistakes but Jonathan would emerge on top of the carnage to take the win from Li in second and Carson Yeung in third.

The German National 1/10th Electric On-road nationals were held this past weekend at the RC-Sportfreunde Singen club in the south of the country. In the Touring Stock class it was Valentin Hettrich who took the pole position for the triple A-mains but problems in A1 and A3 despite a win in A2 only meant the 6th overall place while Max Mächler (Awesomatix), starting from the 2 spot on the grid, made maximum use of Valentin’s issues, taking wins in A1 and A3 to grab the overall Stock title from Alexander Stocker (Awesomatix) in second and Danuel Wohlgemuth (Xray) in third.

Istanbul in Turkey played host to the country’s first GT Night Race for 1/8th GT cars. Held to gather interest for a possible new class next season the race was run from 7:30 pm until midnight, attracting not only many racers but also surrounding locals who followed the racing action cheering and clapping. Racing was close with John Knight and Tom How making it out for the overall TQ with John holding the upper hand and after the finals it was again John who came out fastest in the triple 5-minute runs. Tom How ended the event in second place from Mert Köroğlu in third. With the positive reception of the race the organisers now plan a series possibly starting as early as September.

The fourth round of the BRCA National series took place last weekend at the Wombwell Model Car Club, a circuit which the national championship visits twice this year, a challenging track with a very technical infield and long straight away. Saturday practice was topped by Tim Wood setting the pace, with Mark Green absent on the Saturday, it looked as if Tim would have the advantage. Heading into Sunday it appeared luck would not be on Wood’s side as Mark Green shot straight to the top of the qualifying without any practice run on either Saturday or Sunday.

Following the introduction of the +3mm offset 17mm hex adapter kit for the TLR Ten-SCTE range of short course trucks MIP now also release a standard offset variant. The kit allows to mount 1/8th scale wheels on TLR’s 4WD short course truck in order to increase the range of possible wheel and tyre combinations especially for bashers and also outlaw racing classes. The hex adapters are machined from high-quality aluminium, they are a direct fit on all SCTE platforms and they come with suitable mounting hardware and blue anodised 17mm wheel nuts.
