Keven Hebert takes Halloween Classic 12th Mod title

Keven Hebert takes Halloween Classic 12th Mod title

The recent Halloween Classic continues to be one of the premier on-road events in USA with 225 lucky entrants converged upon The Gate in Brunswick, OH for an exciting weekend and the unofficial kick-off to the 2015-16 indoor racing season. Canadian driver Keven Hebert has been the dominant North American 1/12th driver the past few years and continued to show world-class pace by placing his car on the pole position of the 1/12th Mod A-main with a time that bested his nearest competitor by over a lap. With a single main event determining the winner, a clean start and mistake-free race would be in order. As planned, Keven shot into the lead at the sound of the tone and never looked back. He slowly increased his lead and at the 8-minute mark he crossed the finish line to take a wire-to-wire win. Teammate Mike Haynes also drove impressively to join Keven on the podium in the third position while veteran racer Josh Cyrul grabbed the runner-up spot.

Jesse Davis wins maiden 1/8th IC Track national title

Jesse Davis wins maiden 1/8th IC Track national title

The 1/8th Australian IC On-Road Titles were recently held at the Lilydale track, just outside of Melbourne in Victoria. Jesse Davis set the fastest time in the opening of the six rounds of 10 minute qualifying with a 41/10:04.273, from Jeff Hamon and Steven Jovanovic, both with 40 laps. No one was able to match Davis’ in Q2 but Jovanovic came close with a 41/10:10.075 in Q3 and then Hamon even closer with a 41/10:05.277 in Q4. In the final round of qualifying, Davis improved his time with 41/10:00.496 to cement the TQ position into the 45 minute main final. Unfortunately, the rain started to fall before the race commenced and with no end in sight, the decision was made to abandon the race and base the final results off qualifying, therefore giving Jesse Davis his first ever 1/8th Australian IC On-Road Title and some added confidence leading up to the World Championships in Brazil. Hamon had to settle for second with Jovanovic third.

Robert Batlle dominates final Spanish Buggy

Robert Batlle dominates final Spanish Buggy

The final round of the Spanish Nitro Buggy National Championship was held this past weekend at the Alhaurin de la Torre track in mixed weather conditions. In the shortened qualifiers Mugen’s Robert Batlle found himself in a battle with Bryan Baldo for the TQ but it was the former World Champion who ultimately came out fastest from his Mugen team mates Bryan and Oscar. The 45 minute main final on Sunday was run in dry weather and on a track prepped with sawdust and the race again had Robert coming out fastest although he again had to defend himself against the fast Baldo brothers with whom he swapped positions several times in the opening stages. Ultimately Robert took the win from Oscar with a 16 seconds margin while Bryan ended the main final one lap down, making it a Mugen/Ultimate 1-2-3 finish. Dani Vega (Agama/Reds Racing) ended the main in fourth place, Joan Carlos Canas (HoBao/O.S.) rounded out the top 5 result. As for the overall championship, Robert Batlle secured yet another one while Oscar Baldo grabbed the runner-up spot. Bryan Baldo in third and Javi Pombo in fourth completed the top 4 result for 2015.
