JConcepts Hustle Slash & Slash 4×4 short course wheel

JConcepts Hustle Slash & Slash 4x4 short course wheel

New from JConcepts comes the Hustle wheel for the Traxxas Slash and Slash 4×4 short course trucks. The Hustle wheel takes into account the durability needs of the Slash racer without compromising looks. 6-spoke design rotates about the centre of the wheel with a deep recess in the centre which allows plenty of footing for wheel locknuts. The base features the black wheel appearance and 6 moulded mock locknuts which bring a realistic look. In-between the spread 6 spokes rests small grooves which break up the pattern adding a split personality to the overall design. The entire face of the wheel has been plated with a silver coating which gives racers a little more luxurious look to match-up to the variety of 1:1 inspired bodies on the market. The moulded black colour of the wheel shows through in the extra depth of the spokes which was specifically designed into the wheel. Wheel profile, interior and exterior ribbing and spoke design were all areas of focus while creating the combination of durability, clearance, functionality and appearance.

Tamiya news at the Shizuoka Hobby Show

Tamiya news at the Shizuoka Hobby Show

Tamiyablog have released first images of forthcoming Tamiya kits on show at this week’s Shizuoka Hobby Show. First up is of course the new TRF211XM 1/10th 2WD mid-motor buggy. By the look of things the buggy makes use of the proven TRF201 front and rear end as well as the 201’s gearbox with the chassis being made using a new composite material that combines the stiffness of an alloy chassis with the light weight of composite plastic for improved on-track performance. We do not have any information if the white colour chassis will make it into the kit or if the buggy will come with a dark colour one, once the hype about the new chassis material has settled a bit.

SG50 Singapore Open Race – Report

SG50 Singapore Open Race – Report

The SG50 Singapore Open Race was held in the three classes of 1/8th GT, 1/8th On-road and 1/10th On-road with a great turnout of national and international racers from Italy, Japan, UK, Thailand, and Australia. In the premier 1/8th On-road class the round 1 and 2 TQs were captured by Nelson Lee while round 3 was basically a race between Carmine Riola, Jesse Davis and Nelson Lee. All three racers were separated by only about 1 second until the final lap and unfortunately, Nelson Lee ran out of fuel and he DNF’d in the last qualifyier resulting in a start from the 7 spot on the grid. Up front Carmine started from pole position into the main and Nelson tried to work his way through the field to make up lost ground. During the second round of fuel stops, Nelson moved up to 4th position and after a mid-race stop for tyres he found himself lapping half a second per lap faster on the larger tyres. He now was in 2nd position and only one lap behind the leader Erwin Luhur. Pushing himself to the limit, Nelson Lee continued to clock fast lap times on the fresh rubber and thanks to swift refuelling, he took over the lead after the last rounds of pit stops to take the win from Erwin and Trin.

Bart Mullink wins at Dutch BL-Cup Rd2 & Rd3

Bart Mullink wins at Dutch BL-Cup Rd2 & Rd3

The 2nd round of the Dutch BL-Cup was held in Hengelo at the Euregio track and it was Bart Mullink who won the race in front of Stefan Petrich in 2nd and Erik Wadners in 3rd place. For round 3 the drivers travelled to the RMCA circuit it Almelo. It was again Bart who pretty much dominated the field with Michael Thamm coming in 2nd place and Patrick Carels finishing 3rd. So far Bart has been the only person to make the podium at every round of this year’s BL-Cup, winning two rounds and coming in 2nd once, which makes him a hot candidate for the overall title.
