Shortcourse Showdown Tour Rd1 – Report

Shortcourse Showdown Tour Rd1 – Report

Tacoma R/C Raceway hosted the first race of the yearly Shortcourse Showdown Tour presented by Scotty Ernst. The venue is run by racer Scott Brown, so he knows how to host and put on a good show. The track is a hard clay surface with plenty of traction to allow close and consistent racing. Qualifying saw Team Associated vehicles rise to the top in the Stock SC, Stock SCB, Mod SC, and Mod 4WD SC classes. All qualifying results were extremely close and hinted at some great battles developing for the mains. Stock Short Course had TQ and Associated driver Dave Duncan out to an early lead in his Factory Team SC10. Zane Courtway followed closely in second with his Factory Team SC10. Zane took the point while the lead tandem was negotiating lap traffic. Dave kept on chipping away at Zane’s lead until 2 minutes remaining when Zane had his own issues with lap traffic. Dave took over the lead and never let it go. Team Associated SC10’s finished first and third on the podium, with Dave taking the win and Zane third.

X Factory introduce 3mm carbon fibre hub camber plates for the use with the Team Associated aluminum hub carriers. Coming as a set of four, including a pair of 4-hole plates of standard AE height and two 3-hole plates that are 0.072” lower than standard. The lower ball stud gives the car better balance in corners because it does not shift as much weight to the outside tire. The camber link plates come with black 0.030” spacers to extend the ball stud so the ball cup does not interfere with the hub carrier, and two black locking nuts to secure the ball studs. Tom Yardy teams up with Savöx

Tom Yardy teams up with Savöx

CML Distribution report that UK frontrunner Tom Yardy has hooked up with Savöx for the coming season to run the new Razor brushless 1/10th speed controller. This is what Tom has to say:

I am very happy to be a part of the Savöx team in 2013 – their very popular range of servos has led them to be regarded as one of the most reliable and high quality brands in the industry. It was a hope of many racers that they would expand their electric range to include brushless speed controllers and that is exactly what they have done with the Razor unit. Testing has shown the ESC to deliver a great balance between incredible top speed with smooth power delivery. The ESC is also very easy to set up and tune to your driving style with the programming box included. I look forward to a successful relationship through 2013 and beyond.
