Avid titanium screw sets

Avid have released a number of new titanium screw sets machined from billet 6Al-4V Titanium with cold rolled threads. Starting with these motor screws, they are 7mm long and come with an aluminium washer to help keep your motor plate clean. Next up are M2 thread screws, used on TLR cars in their shocks and arms. designed to give a super clean look while providing a 1mm tall shoulder at the head with a 3mm OD, allowing for the screw to centre top decks or shock towers. Finally there are low profile screws with M3 thread, in 3 different lengths (6mm, 8mm & 10mm) and designed to give a super clean look while providing a 1mm tall shoulder at the head with a 3mm OD again allowing for the screw to centre top decks or shock towers.

Avid 22X-4 chassis brace support tuning set

Avid have announced the release of this chassis brace support tuning set for the TLR 22X-4. Designed to make the TLR 22X-4 steering more predictable to drive while providing more confidence, it does so by stiffening the front end with a thick 3.5mm carbon brace and softening the rear with a 1.5mm carbon brace. The set comes with a pair of 1.0mm shims to maintain rear chassis and gearbox gap.

Avid Truss 1/8th scale buggy wheel

Avid have released a black version of their Truss 1/8th scale buggy wheel, previously only available in white and yellow. The wheel name is derived from the internal ribbing that uses the strength of triangles instead of having straight ribs. The focus of the Truss starts at the centre of the wheel so the tighter triangles help keep the torque strength right where you want it when applying all your throttle, at the nut. Outer channels remove a little rotating mass at the furthest point but more importantly they help the foam from shifting side to side. The benefit on track is that the car has more stability, especially when you are off power trying to swerve left and right to avoid a wreck or through a set of switchbacks after a high speed section.

Avid RC8B3.2 carbon option parts

New from Avid, come a range of carbon parts for the Associated RC8B3.2 1/8th buggy. First up are the carbon arm inserts which offer a great tuning feature by reducing the flex and twist in the arm. These inserts are different than the others by starting with a 2mm carbon plate so the screws have full material to seat into and then pocketing out the rest of the carbon so the insert still remains light weight while retaining stiffness. Next up are some front and rear shock towers made from 5mm glossy finish carbon fibre, with 2.5d cutouts for a nice look and a light chamfer on the front side to help avoid splitting or chipping on hard wrecks. Finally there is carbon fibre steering block arms (+2°) that increases Ackermann. The +2° increased Ackermann allows the inside wheel to achieve more steering angle than the kit blocks which reduces scrub and allows the vehicle to rotate better in the middle of the corner. This rotation does come at the price of less steering at the exit of the corner.

Avid T4’20 2.5mm ULP lower shock towers

Avid have announced the release of their new ULP lower shock towers for the Xray T4 2020 touring car. The towers are made from 2.5mm thick 100 percent premium hard carbon fibre and they allow to run the kit shocks in the lower arm position for those high bite tracks where getting tippy is a problem. Also, due to using thinner 2.5mm hard carbon fibre the shock stays maintain their stiffness but lose some weight since the point is to lower the CG with the shocks. The shock towers are available separately or as set.
