Another EWS win for Jefferies at Round 3

With the latest season of the popular & long running Essex Winter Series reaching the midway stage today it was the Awesomatix of Olly Jefferies that became the first double winner of the current season.  In qualifying it was former British National Champion Kyle Branson who secured the overall TQ ahead of the Schumacher of reigning EWS Champion & Round 2 Elliott Harper with Jefferies, winner of the season opener third.  The four rounds of qualifying produced four different TQ runs with the Xray of Harley Eldridge taking Q1, Branson Q2, Harper Q3 and Jefferies Q4.  In the single A-Main Branson struggled with a tricky car allowing Harper to go to the front early on.  Pushed hard by Branson a touch with 1-minute to go would unsettle Harper’s car allowing Jefferies to pass them both to take the win.  In Stock Zak Finlay made it three wins from three races with Ben Moorey and Billy Fletcher joining him on the podium.

Phend takes SIC win on Xray nitro debut

Having taken a debut electric win with his new chassis sponsor Xray at last weekend’s JConcepts Clash of Champions, Dakotah Phend has now given the new partnership a debut nitro win with a Pro Nitro Buggy victory at the Southern Indoor Championship.  In qualifying at the annual Alabama race, which this year attracted almost 400 entries, it was Kyosho’s Ryan Lutz who secured the overall TQ ahead of Phend after topping the times in the first 2 of the three qualifiers.  While Phend took Q3, it was the Tekno of Ryan Maifield that completed the Top 3 ahead of Seth VanDalen.  Coming out of retirement, Jared Tebo qualified fifth ahead of defending SIC Champion Brandon Rose who has joined Team Associated for the 2025 season.  In the half hour final once Phend got out front early on he dominated the race setting the fastest lap on his way to a comfortable win over Lutz who in turn had a 20-second margin over Maifield.  Unfortunately for Rose his race ended after just 14-minutes.  In eBuggy, Phend took victory from the TQ with Sworks’ Mason Fuller finishing runner-up while Maifield again completed the podium.  Maifield would get a win however taking Nitro Truggy ahead of Fuller and Lutz.

Awesomatix PSSX Progressive Spring System

Awesomatix has released a number of new parts for its A800 touring car platform including their new PSSX Progressive Spring System. This is designed to add 30% progressivity into the originally linear action of SPR01S and SPR01 springs in all A700/A800 cars.  An updated version of the previously known “PSS set”, the PSSX set comes with the new ST69X-30 Screw with wider cap that provides 30% progressivity across an increased range of suspension travel and suspension setups.  All previous ST69 screw versions fit as well but are not included.  With the PSSX set the initial action of spring is softer at the beginning of the compression and becomes progressively harder when the suspension get compressed during downtravel of the car.  Our tests showed that the car with PSSX set at proper settings becomes more easy to drive and more consistent at low-med traction conditions and especially on outdoor asphalt tracks.  In addition to the PSSX, Awesomatix has also released a new Rear Beam for its 1:12 car.  For the A12X, this updated beam features an additional notch for easy track width measurement.
