Speedmerchant Rev.8 aluminium chassis kit

Speedmerchant Rev.8 aluminium chassis kit

Speedmerchant have introduced an aluminium main chassis kit for the Rev.8 1/12th scale pan car. A trend in electric touring car racing and now also swinging over to 1/12th scale pan cars are aluminium main chassis plates that make for a smoother ride and higher corner speeds on the latest generation of black high-grip carpets. Using an alloy chassis over the somewhat softer carbon parts will reducing corner digging while also allowing for a lower centre of gravity which further adds to a more pleasant car feeling. Above image of Speedmerchant’s chassis conversion is a production prototype with the actual chassis coming in an anodised satin black finished with carbon fibre battery locators and mounting hardware.

SpeedMerchant GT4-R rubber tyre pan car

SpeedMerchant GT4-R rubber tyre pan car

Coming soon from SpeedMerchant is the GT4-R rubber tyre pan car. Specially designed for the new rubber tyre World GT class the car is based off of the GT4 pan car with some extra tuning options to help get a little better balance and corner speed out of the spec rubber tyres. Because of the height of the rubber tyres the kit will include black anodised military spec aluminium spacers for under the front of SpeedMerchant’s New School Suspension locking in the front ride height at just over 5mm. The spacers also insure that the suspension stays perfectly flat for precise adjustments while being able to take a hit without moving. The new GT4-R main chassis allows to run a transverse or in-line battery and the car also sports changed up wheelbase and width settings for maximum rubber tyre performance. Despite being in prototype stages the car already scored some impressive results at the recent Cleveland Indoor Champs with a round TQ and a second overall in this new and hotly contested class.

SpeedMerchant World GT4 200mm pan car kit

SpeedMerchant World GT4 200mm pan car kit

SpeedMerchant have released first images of the World GT4 200mm pan car kit. The vehicle is based off the forthcoming RoadKill 10 235mm kit and offers a slim carbon fibre main chassis that can take 2S standard, 2S shorty or 1S LiPo battery packs. A new-style easy-to-adjust front suspension is also part of the package as is a class-standard link-type rear suspension with dual roll dampers. The side springs act on the lower power pod plate rather than on the sidelinks for improved precision and better adjustability while a lightweight motor pod makes for a good balance between low weight and rigidity. We bring you more details on the kit as soon as they become available.

SpeedMerchant RoadKill 10 235mm pan car

SpeedMerchant RoadKill 10 235mm pan car

Available soon from SpeedMerchant is the RoadKill 10 235mm pan car kit. The car underwent a slight redesign after its initial introduction some weeks ago and it will now come with slightly narrower power pod to allow the use of Jaco tyres as well as the wider and very poplar BSR wheels. The kit is based on a wide carbon fibre chassis that allows to use standard as well as shorty and square LiPo battery packs. Up front the kit features a new-style suspension assembly with a simplified upper A-arm arrangement while in the rear a tried and tested link-type suspension comes to the fore. Dual roll dampers and a lightweight centre shock complete the suspension setup. The first batch of the RoadKill 10 kits will come without a rear axle but all standard 235mm axles should fit as do the famous IRS axles that are now being made by R.C. Hobbies/Hyperdrive/MSA. From the second batch on the kits will include the IRS2135 235mm axle.

Steve Boice wins at Cleveland Indoor Champs

Team SpeedMerchand driver Steven Boice took the win in the World GT class at the 34th running of the Cleveland Indoor Championships. After a mixed qualifying Steve made the most out of his 6th place on the starting grid, taking second place after only a couple of laps. He then started to chase the leader and ultimately took the first position with around a minute to go. The 2nd place car then made a run at Steve but ended up taking himself out of contention. After that, Steve put it on cruise control and finished with a straight-a-way lead over 2nd place.

Team Speedmerchant TC6.1 shock towers

Speedmerchant TC6.1 shock towers

Team SpeedMerchant have released their new Associated TC6 front and rear lowered shock towers. Designed to fit the new style TC6 or 6.1 with the vertical ball stud bearing caps/bulkheads, both towers have had the shock mounting positions lowered by 2mm. On the front tower they removed the inner most and outer most stock position mounting holes, while the rear tower has had the 2 outer most holes removed, but they have added 2 new Inner holes for mounting your shocks. The rear tower also has a lowered rear body mount position by exactly 1 body clip hole, but the post is in the same location as the stock tower for a painless change over. The towers were lowered as much as possible while still being able to use the stock Associated springs giving your sedan a lower CG, and by utilizing the new mounting positions on the rear tower your TC6 will gain a ton of rotation.  They are machined out of 2.5mm quasi-isotropic carbon fiber for superior rigidity and durability.

SpeedMerchant OR-18 1/18th scale body

SpeedMerchant OR-18 1/18th scale body

SpeedMerchant have released their new 1/18th scale pan car racing body, the OR-18. This is the same body that SpeedMerchant drivers used to sweep the 2011 & 2012 Mini Carpet On-Road Nationals held at R/C Madness in Enfield, CT. This project was designed from the beginning to bring all of their winning 12th scale racing knowledge to the 18th scale pan car class. The body features everything that is at the cutting edge of 12th scale body design, just slightly shrunk down, to take your 18th scale to the podium. The Aero characteristics include a dorsal fin for better straight line tracking, more rear down force to help calm down the insanely overpowered 18th scale brushless cars, as well as more side force and side bite to help produce much higher corner speeds.
