SpeedMerchant pan car steering blocks

SpeedMerchant introduce their new pan car steering blocks for all on-road chassis with standard 1/8″ king pin. They sport the same geometry as company’s delrin blocks and are slightly lower in height than most of the available blocks for more variety in ride height and roll centre adjustments. Additionally the 4.40 ball stud is moved away from the king pin for more Ackermann options while a different axle trail takes away a bit of the twitchiness around the centre of the steering. They are designed for the use with SpeedMerchant’s machined front axles, come with 4-40 set screws and are available in black or blue anodising.

SpeedMerchant Gen-XL in-line conversion kit

SpeedMerchant Gen-XL in-line conversion kit

Having received many requests to make an in-line conversion for the CRC Gen-XL, SpeedMerchant have now released that kit. Much like their Xray 12th conversion, this kit allows you to mount the battery in-line on the left or right side, or across the back like normal, but with more for/aft adjustability than stock. When drawing up the conversion, it quickly became apparent that the cleanest, easiest and strongest design would be to box in the rear pod with a new Top Plate, and give the car a full length tweak brace. This allows the battery to sit further back in the chassis and stiffens the rear end of the car. By adding a matching motor/pod plate on the left side they really strengthened the rear pod area which increases durability as well as helping your rear axle stay perfectly aligned after a misadventure with an immovable object. They have also added mounting holes so you can adjust shock length for finer on track tuning. The kit comes with almost everything you need to convert your CRC Gen-XL, including main chassis, tweak brace, top plate and two battery brace/shock mounts as well as SpeedMerchant linear tweak spring set, stand-offs, ball-studs and all the required hardware to complete the conversion.

Speedmerchant Xray XII conversion kit

Speedmerchant Xray XII conversion kit

Speedmerchant are releasing their conversion kit for the Xray XII 1/12th scale car. Taking all the information gathered at the Nationals and testing weekly since, they have come up with this conversion. The new parts see the wheel base lengthened for more traction and stability as well as a widened front track for more predictable cornering. The rear suspension geometry has also been revised to get rid of any binding while the revised shock geometry offers more rear traction. The new chassis can accept the battery in 3 different positions, standard position, with over 1/2 inch for/aft adjustment, and offset/inline on either side of the chassis. They have also switched out the progressive springs for their linear tweak springs and moved them in-board, which they found to work much better on the lighter LiPo based cars. Finally they got rid of the single side to side damper for a pair of their proven damper tubes as they found the tubes to be much more consistent for racing.

SpeedMerchant Linear Tweak spring conversion

SpeedMerchant Linear Tweak spring conversion

SpeedMerchant have announced the release of their Linear Tweak spring conversion. After months of testing, moving from the Rev.5 to the new Rev.6, they’ve found that the lighter & quicker Single Cell LiPo cars perform much better with Linear side springs compared to the standard ‘progressive’ side springs that have been run for years. These new springs tend to smooth the cars out, and generally just make it easier to drive, without a loss of steering or chassis response.
