Team Associated have announced the signing of young California native Steven Hartson. Steven will race the full line of Associated, Reedy and LRP products including the Reedy 121 VR engine and the LRP 1:8 SPX8 system and like many on the AE team will use Sidewinder fuel combined with JConcepts tires and accessories. Hartson brings the out-right speed comparable to the top electric racers in the world, but as of yet has not had the opportunities to showcase his talents in the 1:8 scene. With multiple A-Main finishes in 1:10 National Championships and major International events, Hartson looks to transfer these results to the ultra- competitive U.S. 1:8 scale scene. Local to Southern California, he’s sure to get his feet wet fast with weekly competitors such as teammate Ryan Cavalieri, Cody King, Adam Drake, Mike Truhe, Ryan Lutz and so on. Hartson’s first race with his Reedy powered RC8B and RC8e will come in two weeks at the Toys for Tots event at Thunder Alley Raceway in Beaumont, CA.

New from the Factory Team are these blue aluminium screw kits that reduce weight for better acceleration and handling, while the blue anodizing adds high-tech bling. Even cars already at the minimum weight can benefit. A lightweight car allows ballast to be placed in the optimum position for different track conditions and equal left-to-right weight distribution. Available for Team Associated 12R5/12R5.1, 10R5, and 10R5 Oval, these complete sets of 65, 66, and 78 screws replace the heavy stock steel screws and can be fitted to any vehicle that uses metric hardware.

Designed to fit perfectly in Team Associated’s 16mm big bore shocks, these Factory Team precision-machined tapered Delrin pistons have been extensively track tested and race proven by AE’s racing team over the course of the 2009 season. These pistons, packaged in sets of four, are perfectly suited for use in the RC8B and RC8e thanks to the more progressive damping characteristics provided by the 10×1.1mm-hole pattern. Additionally the tapered profile improves rebound damping to optimize handling in all conditions.

After TQ’ing all four rounds of qualifying, Team Associated’s RC8T Factory Team kit took first place at the 2009 ROAR Nationals. Driven by Ryan Maifield and powered by the Reedy 121VR .21 competition engine, the RC8T performed as it was designed to and brought home the big win. From Team Associated for the TC5, TC5R, and TC5F, the Factory Team LiPo battery retainer has been CNC machined from 2.5mm woven carbon fibre and attaches to either the 2.5mm standard or 2.0mm ITF chassis using the existing battery post holes with the supplied hardware. Designed for use with LiPo batteries that meet ROAR/EFRA specifications, the retainer positions the battery towards the center of the chassis for improved weight distribution and easier access to socket-style battery connectors. The outer shelf of the retainer is sized to accommodate lead ballast (or similar) for chassis balancing and to bring the car up to the updated minimum weight. With a typical electronics setup, the chassis can be equally balanced left to right while achieving the minimum weight requirement. Additionally, the inboard battery position allows the inner ESC power wire to be inserted and removed with no interference or risk of a short circuit.

Team Associated have announced a Limited Edition version of their RC8T Factory Team truggy. In a limited quantity the Factory Team kit will be supplied with many of the Factory Team option parts that Ryan Maifield used on his truck to capture the 2009 ROAR 1:8 Scale Truck National Championships valued at $146.

Team Associated have introduced the Factory Team SC10 carbon fibre battery strap. This lightweight strap replaces the plastic battery strap to increase battery placement options, with the battery now able to be mounted as far back as the rear shock tower while maintaining the SC10’s innovative quick-release battery feature. As an added bonus, the first 1000 will be produced in eye-catching blue carbon fibre.
