Is this the Team Associated RC8?

Team Associated RC8

Our mate Philip over at Neo Buggy has a spyshot on his site and although he’s not giving too much away on what manufacturer it is from, you have to ask who is left to show their entry into this class besides Team Associated. The upcoming RC8 is eagerly awaited and while it will contain some parts from the Thunder Tiger buggy, it should be all new. When we find out more we will let you know.

UPDATE: We have been reminded that the new Asso will be released with C-hubs and this car doesnt appear to have them. Damn, so that means we are no closer to finding out who this car is from, perhaps Crono?

Team Associated TC5 Update

Asssociated TC5

The Team Associated TC5 prototype electric car has been around for a while now and has been performing quite well, and is still being developed, but it seems that the car is a step closer to being released with the latest images of the car showing the use of some production ready parts. RC Zone has some images taken at last weekends Novak US Touring car championships that show Rick Hohwarts car in detail as well as some more info on the car itself.

The major parts that carry over from previous cars are the shock bodies, VCS2, Springs, Ballcups, Tierods, Diff Hardware, Ballstuds, Body Posts. Another detail is that the new car will feature screws with 2mm metric threads. The bearings will also be all metric spec. The aluminium parts will also be anodised blue like on other Associated Factory Team cars.

Team Associated release more details on their RC8 Buggy

Team Associated

A lot of people have been worried that the upcoming RC8 buggy from Team Associated, that was officially announced last week, would be basically a copy of new owner Thunder Tigers current offering. Well according to a statement from Torrance Deguzman, who works with Associateds R&D team, the car will bear no resemblance to the TT buggy but will use its differentials in order to save costs as well as some minor linkage parts but that the rest of the buggy is completely new.

Joel Myrberg to race for Associated

Joel Myrberg

RC Touring have the news that top Xray racer Joel Myrberg has left the Slovakian manufacturer to race for Team Associated in 2007. Joel will make his race debut at next months DHI cup in Denmark were he will Join Drescher and Levanen in driving the TC5 prototype. This is the second top driver confirmed to be leaving Team Xray after Viktor Wilck was confirmed to be joining Tamiya on Tuesday. This of course comes after the signing of top French race Cyril N’Diaye and of course former European Champion Teemu Leino who joined from Schumacher, so there is obviously a major shake up at Xray going on.

Associated TC5 prototype showing great potential

Associated TC5 prototype - Juho Levanen & Craig Drescher

CML Distribution have a report on their site updating us on the progress of the Team Associated TC5 prototype. This belt drive touring car has been doing the rounds for a while now and it all seems to be paying off with Juho Levanen and Craig Drescher taking 3rd and 4th respectively in last weekends TC Carpet World Cup.

In the early practice run on Thursday and Friday both Associated cars were quickly dialed in to the fast but technical track at the CRF facility, using Novak brushless power Craig’s car looked punchy with good straight line speed, still in its development stage the new car delighted Craig and caused a great deal on interest in the pit area.

Team Associated RC18R

Team Associated RC18R

Now normally I wouldn’t write about such cars as I find them a bit toyish, but these ones are cute and are made by the grandaddy of RC competition, Team Associated, so they are deserving of mention. The RC18R is a little 1/18th scale electric rally car that is based on Associated’s popular and already available ready-to-run 1/18th scale buggies and truggies but then are adapted to suit the narrower width.
