Ralph Burch wins Great Lakes Challenge

Ralph Burch wins Great Lakes Challenge

Xray have a report from team driver Barry Baker about the 2007 Great Lakes Challenge race that was held last weekend in Toledo, Ohio. Most drivers had a few days practice to fine tune their setups but unfortunately race day was cancelled due to rain, and so the win was given to Ralph Burch who had taken the TQ spot after qualifying.

In the last round Paul was on a blistering pace to set TQ and made a mistake which meant that he would have to settle for 2nd on the grid. Bobby also had a few mishaps… In this round Ralph put in a different motor and his clutch wasnt right but he did set fastest lap for the event in Sedan(18.44). Ray put in an impressive run in his heat to jump to 4th on the grid (guess he was getting the hang of gas cars..lol). At the end of qualifing they took 11 cars straight to the main and with the NT1 we had 6 of the top 11 including the top 5!

Andersen wins at Norwegian Nats

Andersen wins at Norwegian Nats

Xray have a report on their site from the recent Norwegian National Championship race that was run on the brand new Spydeberg Raceway, Spydeberg being the home town of the Solberg brothers, that compete in the WRC. In qualifying it was Xray NT1 driver Helge Johannesen that comfortably claimed the pole position ahead of team mate Georg Ellingsen in 2nd place. The start of the final saw pole man Johannesen stretch out a lead ahead of Morten Bremsrud and Georg Ellingsen who were having a battle for 2nd position. Further into the race it was Frank Andersen who could work his way towards the front, and when Johannesen ran out fuel 2 times, it was enough for Andersen to take the lead where he stayed to take to win finishing 2 laps up on Johannesen in 2nd and Ellngsen in 3rd.

Xray XB8EC Chassis Flex Tech Tip

Xray XB8EC Chassis Flex Tech Tip

Xray have published a notification that they will start to only include the composite chassis braces in their XB8EC kits as it allows the chassis to flex more and give more traction, where the aluminium versions previously included made the chassis too stiff for most conditions.

Some XB8EC drivers who were used to the XB8TQ may feel that the chassis is softer, but please note that the XB8EC chassis is not softer but rather it is more flexible due to the use of composite braces both front and rear. The XB8TQ included both composite and aluminum braces and experience has shown us that most customers installed the aluminum braces; this made the XB8TQ chassis flex less and in most racing conditions where a more flexible chassis was required the XB8TQ did not have sufficient traction. For this reason XRAY decided to include only the composite braces in the XB8EC kit, which can be used in most standard racing conditions as they provide more chassis flex, making the car easier to drive.
