Ramp XB2 carbon fibre & 3-D-printed optionals

Austrian brand Ramp has announced the release of their first optionals for the Xray XB2 buggy. First up is a carbon flex battery mount that allows for a wide range of accessible battery positions. The lightweight set contains machined carbon fibre battery locators as well as two high-quality rubber O-rings that ensure quick and easy battery swaps. Next up are 3-D-printed lightweight motor upper brace mounts in 0mm and +2mm specification, the latter being usable for +2mm height gearbox positions. The parts are of a lightweight design, they feature battery slots for low-profile packs but are also usable with standard height shorty packs. Suitable for the above upper brace mounts is a flex motor upper brace/waterfall that is lighter than the standard part while offering increased flex for both the Carpet and Dirt spec with laydown gearbox. Last but not least is a carbon fibre rear wing protector that will ensure a longer life of the rear wing thanks to offering a greater contact surface.

Xray XB8 series soft composite front lower arm

Made for Xray’s XB8 series vehicles, such as the XB8, XB8E, GTX8 and GTXE is a soft composite lower front arm. The rear bulkheads are mounted 8.4mm closer together and the rear arm mounts move the inner pivot pins 2.5mm closer together, which combined with the bulkhead placement generates more rear traction and improves the stability of the car. Xray X1 solid rear axle set

Coming from Xray and made for their X1 formula car as well as other formula class pan cars is a rear solid axle set. The spool axle is made up using a highly precise graphite axle shaft and a clamping design aluminium adapter all of which replace the standard diff assembly for a lighter spool that helps to gain traction especially in high to very high grip conditions. While improving acceleration the spool axle also makes for increased steering in certain track conditions.

Xray XB8 zero rebound shock absorbers

Coming from Xray are their new zero rebound shock absorbers for the XB8 series of buggies. The dampers can be set to allow less rebound than standard shock absorbers, decreasing responsiveness and improving bump absorption on bumpy tracks. The design of the shock body and upper cap allows the installation of a ribbed shock membrane on the top of the shock body instead of the traditional installation into the upper cap. The installation of the ribbed membrane on the shock body allows excess oil to leak out, and along with a shock cap vent hole and adjusting screw allows the adjustment of the amount of air until the desired zero rebound is achieved. The lower shock assembly ensures that the shock rod will move very freely inside the shock body, while minimising oil leakage and keeping dirt out. Other features include double O-ring sealing, 3.5mm shock shafts as well as lower rubber boots to keep dust, dirt and moisture away from the shock shaft and seals. Available separately for the front and rear, the shocks include a complete set of pistons but not springs.

Rebellion-RC release new mid-motor conversion teasers

Rebellion-RC have released more information on their forthcoming mid-motor conversion kits for cars such as the Xray T4, Yokomo BD9 and BD8 as well as the Team Associated TC7.2. According to Rebellion-RC the kits, project name “Holy Grail”, will do away with the shortcomings of current mid-motor conversions, such as wider overall electronics layouts – especially offset battery positions – or raised drivetrains compared to rear motor cars; all of which having negative effects on the overall performance and thus detracting the positive influences of the mid-motor design. First prototype tests have shown very promising results with Rebellion-RC’s Xray and Team Associated testbeds all being quicker than their standard counterparts. The conversion kits will retain the battery position, electronics layout/chassis width of the standard cars, they will include a patented design motor mount and are usable with up to 48T pinion gears and 114T main gears, making them usable for both Stock and Modified classes. The first kits for Xray, Yokomo and Team Associated cars will become available by the end of July with conversion kits for all of the other current electric touring cars coming quickly after.
