Electric Championship Tour Rd3 report

Round 3 of the Electric Championship Tour (ECT) was hosted by Mike’s R/C World this past weekend in Bellingham, WA, located about as far north as you can go while still being in the United States, some 20 miles south of the Canadian border. The track was open on Friday for practice, followed by Saturday for racing, which consisted of 2 qualifiers and triple A-Mains. There were a total of 167 entries for this event, making it the 2nd biggest turnout of the year so far and the drivers were presented with a hi-traction track that had a very technical layout. The Kyosho team had a good day at the office taking 7 class wins. Andy DiBrino took the win in stock truck class, Brian Munn was the winner of the Super Stock Buggy class, Joe Pillars took the win in the 2wd Modified Buggy class, Shaun Dunlap came out the Modified Truck class winner, Jesse Munn took the victory in Super Stock 4wd and Daniel Lee did the double, winning the Stock Buggy class and Super Stock Truck class.

Volker wins 10th Anniversary DHI Cup

Volker wins 10th Anniversary DHI Cup

Ronald Volker is the 2010 DHI Cup Champion giving Team Yokomo their first ever win at the prestigious Danish race and also their first big win in Europe since Masami Hirosaka won the LRP Masters 10 years ago.  The German, who was champion of the event in 2007, took the win after he claimed his second win of the day in the third Leg. In Pro Stock the third A Main saw the two contenders clash on the second lap dropping them out of contention for the Leg win. This meant the title would be decided on times and so Stocker took the title from Bergfeldt in 2nd and Leg 3 winner Yukijiro Umino in 3rd.

David Ronnefalk takes victory at Nitromania X

David Ronnefalk takes victory at Nitromania X

David Ronnefalk has won the gas buggy class at the Nitromania X event being held in Belgium this weekend. The young Swede was top qualifier with his Team Orion powered Kyosho, but a poor semi final meant he would start the main final from 11th on the grid. Following some early lead changes Losi/Novarossi man Adam Drake took over at the front and extended his lead out to a lap followed by Ronnefalk in 2nd and Elliot Boots in 3rd. The Drake started to make some errors and with 11 minutes to go David was only 11 seconds behind and closing. Some more mistakes from the American and the European B Champion was through to the lead, and when he pitted Mugen/RB driver Boots was up to 2nd. With 7 minutes left Ronnefalk went in for his final stop and this allowed Adam back to the front, but again more small mistakes from the American and some close battling saw Ronnefalk taking the win from Elliot Boots in 2nd with Adam Drake taking 3rd. Consolation for the American was that he won the brushless buggy event ahead of Joern Neumann in 2nd and David Ronnefalk in 3rd.

Rheinard ups the pace in Denmark

Rheinard ups the pace in Denmark

Defending DHI Cup Champion Marc Rheinard has upped the pace here in qualifying to claim the third round and move to the top of the Qualification Ranking with two heats remaining. The German was pleased with the 19 laps in 5:04.658 result but feels his Tamiya, which is fitted with 4 turn Speedpassion motor, is too easy to drive. Although very consistent he feels that his 416X can be quicker and so he plans to lower the camber link, something he hopes is the right direction to take.
