Essex Winter Series Rd3 – Report

Essex Winter Series Rd3 – Report

The third round of the 2015/16 Essex Winter Series had the honour of being the last major event of 2015. The capacity entry again featured stars from all parts of the UK and even further afield, including no less than three A-Finalists form last weekend’s ETS event. The Modified class saw EWS round 1 winner Olly Jefferies set the early pace with his Xray, narrowly pipping HB’s Andy Moore and EWS round 2 winner Elliott Harper’s Schumacher in the opening qualifier. Andy proved that his below-expectation result at the ETS was a one-off, topping the times in the second qualifying round, in front of the Xray duo of Olly and Alexander Hagberg. The third round saw Alexander setting the fastest time ahead of Kyle Branson, Olly and Elliott.  That left pole position, along with the entire A-Final grid to be set in the final round. After five intense minutes, Olly secured pole position by setting the quickest time in front of Kyle and Andy. Once the rest of the points were added up, Andy would line up second on the grid in front of Alexander, Kyle and Elliott. A special mention has to go to Harley Eldridge who secured a pair of sixth places to line her Yokomo up seventh on the grid, just behind multi-time BRCA champion Chris Grainger.

Brand & Pettit win at Run for the Riches 3

The Run for the Riches 3 race was recently held in Knoxville, Tennessee at the ROCCK club, drawing more than 150 entries. The Pro Nitro Buggy A-main saw some very intense battles between Shay Brand, Barry Pettit, and Eddie Cordoba and at the end Shay was able to slowly create some distance between himself and the others, and come away with the overall win. In the Pro E-Buggy category, TQ holder Shay Brand made a few small mistakes by himself and a couple of issues with lapped traffic caused some further problems, allowing Barry Pettit to take the win from Shay who managed to grab the runner-up spot at the end.

Zac Ryan takes Buggyparty Farewell Race win

Zac Ryan takes Buggyparty Farewell Race win

The Buggyparty Farewell Race was held at the iconic PRC track in Pattaya, Thailand with drivers from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Korea and Australia in attendance. For the first 30 minutes of the 60 minute main final Jason Nugroho would be in the lead but he lost a lot of time during marshalling after a flip and the following flameout cost him dearly. Jason tried to get back in the lead but he lost his pace and so Australia’s Zac Ryan would bring home the win from Jason in second and Korea’s Ryan Lee in third.

The Batam Night Race was held last Saturday at the Batam RC Speedway Track, in Batam with racers from Singapore, Jakarta, Medan, Batam, Tanjung Pinang, Pekanbaru and Aceh in attendance. After the five rounds of 10 minute qualifying Jason Nugroho (Xray/Novarossi) took the TQ. During the final B-main it started to rain and the A-main was delayed by over an hour but all drivers wanted to race and so the main was started on a very wet track. Unfortunately no one was able to finish the race and so the top 3 result saw Edianto (Kyosho/O.S.) taking the win from Jason Nugroho with Asang Ho (Mugen/Reds Racing) grabbing the final podium spot. Behind the three Ameng (Mugen/Reds Racing) and Afriandy (Mugen/Reds Racing) completed the top 5 result.
