Schumacher Racing expands engineering team

Schumacher Racing have expanded their engineering team again and would like to welcome Tristram Neal as design, development, and race engineer. Tristram previously worked as an engineer at AWE Atomic Weapons Establishment, and is well known for his Trishbits range of accessories that he has been producing for 1/10th buggies. He will be contributing to the design and development of Schumacher products and will be representing the company at race meetings.

Hadley Junior High School RC Program

Paul Lemieux got in contact to tell us about a program he has been involved with at Hadley Junior High School in Glen Ellyn Illinois. The school has a longstanding and unique program to offer its students – it has a RC Program. I have been involved with the program in the past and attended another Hadley event on Sunday, March 4th to work with the kids.

Steve O’Donnell joins TLR organisation

Horizon Hobby is proud to welcome Steve and Brad O’Donnell to the organization. Steve will assume the role as Technical Advisor for Race Chassis Development and will work alongside his son Brad, Team Losi Racing Engineer Dan Hissam, and drivers such as Adam Drake and Mike Truhe. Steve will be instrumental in developing new products for the Team Losi Racing vehicles. Steve’s vast experience, including 5 IFMAR World Championship titles, CNC machining knowledge, and over 25 years of RC and engineering experience, will help continue the dominating presence of Team Losi Racing in the 1/8th off-road nitro category. Steve’s first race with the team is this week at the 13th annual Dirt Nitro Challenge at the Fear Farm R/C Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona. Steve will support the entire team and the Team Losi Racing 8ight 2.0 buggy and 8ight-T 2.0 Truggy platforms.

Clean Tyres – No additives

The tire treatment debate in 1/8th and 1/10th gas on road has certainly divided a lot of racers and the widespread use and inability to consistently and effectively test for these substances has pushed rule makers to allow the use of additive. Some people are tired of waiting for rule makers to do something about it so are taking this matter into their own hands. For example there is a new gas on road race series about to get underway in Europe this season that uses hand out tires and in Switzerland there is the moral commitment movement to not use tire additives. The latter is signed by a number of the top gas racers in the country, and will see the drivers carry the ‘Clean Tyres’ decal on their cars to show that they are against, and do not use, additives and it is a campaign that they wish to spread across Europe.
