Xray Column – Off road Development

Xray Column - Off road Development

The 14th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj talks about the development of the company’s next generation 1/8th scale buggy.

Before packing my stuff for the two big US races, I had the R&D and Production shops work quickly to make all of the parts I wanted to test. This time I had decided to not make all these parts for other team drivers but purposely only for me, but rather to make only a few shock sets for some other drivers. I expected that besides the significant shock improvements that we would need to improve forward traction and steering, and also the speed of the car. All of the parts were made on time and within only a few days, so I could finish packing my stuff and leave for the US.

According to Novak, 17.5-turn brushless motors have been approved for use in the Stock class and in addition there is a name change for the 19T class. This will now be known as the Super Stock Class, and will allow 10.5 and 13.5-turn brushless motors.

ROAR approve LiPo packs for racing

ROAR approve LiPo packs for racing

Some major changes of heart at ROAR following today’s confirmation by the US Governing body that lithium battery technology has been approved for use in ROAR sanctioned events. Essentially all 7.4v batteries in a hard case will be approved for use if they pass the safety tests, of which there are three, the most important is the overcharge test. They are now approved to be used in 6 cell, sub-C Ni-Cd and NiMH classes and must meet the current minimum weight requirement, which means racers will need to add weight to their cars.

Joseph Quagraine – Interview

 Joseph Quagraine - Interview

More interviews with our partners Neo Buggy having an exclusive chat with Joseph Quagraine to talk about his new venture JQ Products, that he is doing together with Himoto Racing.

I have been working on my own 1:8 buggy design for nearly two years now, and at the time I started talking with Himoto, it was already done. When I finally showed them my prototype they were impressed, and basically things took off from there. The opportunity of being part of a new RC-car company was just too good to miss. It is a great challenge to pull this off, and establish a new top level racing brand, but its one I am looking forward too. We will start with a 1:8 buggy, and various nitro racing accessories, but the intention is to expand from there and produce other cars also, both gas and electric, on and offroad.
