Team Orion 4200 SHO & 1600 cells

Team Orion 4200 SHO

Team Orion are close to releasing 2 new revolutionary, self developed, competition level cells. Set to take the EP world by storm are these 4200MAh SHO, super high output, competition cells that have been specifically developed by Oscar Jansen and the company’s Chinese Engineering development team to be chemically stable, which elimates explosions and cell failure due to self discharge. These are the first cells to be actually made by Team Orion themselves and they promise to deliver great power and long run times, and as an added bonus they can be purchased as hand made packs in saddle or straight 5 or 6 cell configurations, as well as loose. Team Orion have also announced new 2/3 A type cells that use the same chemical structure as the 4200 cells and are great for powering your micro racer or configured as receiver packs that offer long run time and can easily cope with high current servos in both off road and on road cars. Both types of next generation cells will be available to buy in the next 2 weeks.

New products from Spektrum

Spektrum Dual regulator

Spektrum, makers of the pioneering 2.4gHz radio system, have released a number of new products in their product range. First up is this Spektrum dual voltage regulator that provides regulated voltage protection for up to two servo functions with two input ports and two output ports. This unique component eliminates the danger of higher voltage power systems to standard voltage servos by being placed in between the receiver and the servo needing regulation, which allows the rest of the system to work at a desired voltage. Also new is a range of NiMh receiver packs in both 1650mAh, 2150mAh, 2700mAh and 4500mAh capacities, with all packs featuring Sanyo cells and come installed with an EC3 lead for quick and easy usage, and a 6” JR charge lead.

ProTek LiPo 4000mAh power pack

ProTek LiPo 4000mAh power pack

A Main Hobbies have announced the release of this ProTek R/C brand Lithium Polymer 2-cell 4000mAh 20C power pack. These ProTek R/C battery packs can be used in any application where you need 6-cell NiMH stick or race packs, such as 1/10th scale electric touring cars or 2wd and 4wd off-road vehicles and are significantly lighter weighing only 200g (7.1oz) when compared to regular NiMH race packs which weigh over 400g (14oz) for the same capacity. These batteries also have a nominal voltage of 7.4V compared to the 7.2V of regular NiMH batteries, and have a lot lower internal resistance. This leads to better top speeds and improved ‘punch’ off the line when compared to NiMH batteries.
