Serpent Viper 977 Rear End Upgrade set

Serpent Viper 977 rear end upgrade set-1

Coming from Serpent and made for the Viper 977 1/8th on-road kit is the Rear End Upgrade set. Usable on the standard 977 and also the Evo, the included parts move the inner hinge pins closer to the centre line of the chassis which in combination with longer pivotballs makes for effectively longer suspension arms. The upgrade results in more overall traction, a more stable rear end both under acceleration and braking and thus overall higher corner speeds. The set includes new main bearings blocks, rear plate, suspension brackets and shock mounts as well as longer steel pivot balls, a new carbon fibre camber bracket and it is rounded out by longer camber rods, ball joints and pivot balls.

JConcepts Wash Brush tyre cleaning brush

JConcepts Wash Brush tyre cleaning brush

JConcepts have introduced their innovative Wash Brush, a brush purpose built to make tyre washing easier. Tyre washing is a common sight in both nitro and electric off-road racing and it’s common to attach a brush to a re-sealable bucket for repeated pit use; however, it’s difficult to attach the brush. The JConcepts product eliminates the hassle by including the properly built RC brush with hardware and O-rings in each package. LRP FlowX speed controller – Exclusive preview

LRP FlowX speed controller – Exclusive preview

Following Ronald Volker’s World Championship victory in China, LRP revealed to Red RC that Ronald was using the all new FlowX speed controller in his Yokomo as well as giving us the opportunity to photograph the new speedo which is set for release later this year. A driver who has shown great loyalty to the German brand even during some tough product development periods, the new speedo is very much a joint effort between LRP and Volker. Working with electronics engineer Aleš Dobnikar, Volker made a point of thanking LRP for their “hard work” praising them on the “progress they have made” recently. Although they have won many World titles, LRP boss Jürgen Lautenbach, who was in Beijing, said “this one is special”. Technically the new FlowX is the evolution of the highly popular Flow WorksTeam speed controller with whom the prototype, ran by Ronald, shares its case but the full production version will sport an all-new case whose prototype you can see in our images. When it comes to the technical specifications and software features LRP remain very tight-lipped for now, just stating that the new ESC “pushes the boundaries of speed control technology in every aspect”. The new FlowX speedo is due for release later this year when the full technical details will also be made available.

RPM X-Maxx oversized rear axle carriers

RPM X-Maxx oversized rear axle carriers

Coming from RPM and made for the Traxxas X-Maxx monster truck are new oversized wheel axle carriers. They were designed to solve two key issues, the first being durability. RPM designed these carriers to handle some serious abuse with massive support ribs for the strongest possible carriers available. The other area of improvement comes in the form of larger inner bearings. The stock inner bearings are a mere 20x27x4mm while the oversized bearings are gigantic 20x32x7mm bearings. That equates to a dynamic load rating that is nearly 300 percent higher than the stock bearing while the static load rating is over 300 percent higher. The hub carriers come including the new inner bearings while the outer bearings are the stock Traxxas ones.
