JConcepts Silent Speed spur gears

JConcepts Silent Speed spur gears

Designed with several key aspects in focus, JConcepts introduces the Silent Speed line of spur gears for select Team Associated vehicles. Spur gears or straight-cut gears are some of the simplest forms of gears, however they directly influence the ratio, speed and sound of R/C vehicles and they are extremely important. These gears when meshed together correctly provide the transfer of power from the motor to the transmission and are one of the key elements in the versatility and sound of the vehicle. Silent Speed spur gears are precision machined making them uniquely concentric over standard or molded gears giving the user a consistent gear mesh allowing a more precise adjustment and more “silence” on the race track. The detailed machining provides a pattern vented area and secured slipper pad on both sides giving more consistent slipper performance. The gears are marked for size in 2 different ways so they are identifiable either assembled within a slipper assembly or as a stand-alone part. These 48P gears are available in 75T, 78T, 81T, 84T and 87T.

Yokomo B-Max2 shots

YokomoB-Max2

At this week’s 51st All Japan Hobby Show Yokomo presents what looks like the production model of the company’s first electric 2WD off-road buggy. Seen for the first time at the Shizuoka Hobby Show back in May, the car features a class-standard plastic composite chassis, composite shock towers, big bore shock absorbers and something that looks like a quick-release battery hold down. The kit looks to be conventional a rear-motor-only affair with the speed controller becomes mounted atop the battery as the chassis side pods are very narrow making for a slim chassis design.

Durango DEX408 prototype shots

Seen at the Arena Offroad Meeting this weekend in Italy, the recently announced DEX408 is being run in prototype form by Austrian driver Gerd Pfeifer. We are told the final production car uses a similar configuration to that seen in the photos with the exception of the battery pack mount which will see the batteries lying flat instead of on their side as in this version.

Xray T3 2012 Spec kit

Xray-T3-2012-Specs

Having written about Xray’s T3 2012 Spec touring car before we can now show your first pictures of the Slovakian company’s contender for the 2012 season. Based on the successful T3 platform and therefore fully compatible with the majority of spare and option parts, the 2012 Spec features an all-new graphite chassis and top-deck designed for increased overall traction and improved on-power steering. Also new are the front and rear upper bulkheads that now feature three camber link mounting positions and that allow for a quick change of the linkage length and roll centre positions using shims. Along with the new upper bulkheads go new shock towers for increased on-power steering and improved high-traction handling, new harder steering blocks to prevent tyre temperature issues in high-grip conditions, a 4-spring servo saver for increased steering accuracy, and a new leaf-free gear differential that is lighter and smoother compared to other differentials.
