Exclusive – Protoform R15B 1/8th on road body

In preparation for the 2011 IFMAR 1/8th IC On-Road World Championships Protoform had produced an all new open cockpit style race body. The R15B has been tested and refined by some of America’s top racers. Last month it was used by Mike Swauger to TQ at the Ron Paris Memorial Race in Las Vegas. This unique design has shown itself to extremely stable and exhibits great turning ability. This body also conforms to the adjusted 2011 EFRA height rules. It’s available in 3 different weights of lexan, regular, lite-weight and Pro-lite for the expert racer. The R15B has been submitted to ROAR and EFRA for official approval.

Arrowmax MRX-5 brass battery plate

Arrowmax have released this new battery plate for the Mugen MRX-5, manufactured from heavy brass to bring the cars center of gravity lower. Weighing in at 39.7grams, it is a direct replacement for the original kit version.

Xray Column – T3 Saga Continues

The 48th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column he goes into detail about the development and testing that went in to producing the new T3 chassis.

Due to advancements in electronics in recent years, we have changed with the times and moved from brushed to brushless motors, and from NiMH to LiPo batteries. The T3 was designed for both LiPo and NiMH at its debut; some racers still used NiMH batteries, so we didn’t want the T3 to be LiPo only because many customers could be disappointed. However, LiPo popularity has increased dramatically and after 1 year almost nobody uses “classic, old-school NiMH batteries.” It was time to go LiPo only.

Motonica P81 RS 1/8th scale chassis

Italian company Motonica have announced the P81 RS 1/8th scale competition chassis. Developed by the Motonica R&D Team with the supervision of Stefano Solaroli and Stefano Puccinelli and suggestions by the best professional drivers, the improvements of P81 RS touch a wide range of items. From the shock absorbers to the new swing shafts, made out of special steels which were also used for the transmission shafts, to the PHS system with more effective adjustments points.

RB 204mm compact manifold

As mentioned in our World Championship coverage, RB have designed and developed a special compact 204mm manifold for increased bottom end power. Designed for ‘American style’ tracks with big jumps, this manifold claims to be a big advantage in term of power. Also available in 192mm and 198mm versions, it is polished both inside and out and supplied with exhaust gasket and springs.

DnM Tech MRX-5 pinions

DnM Tech have released this set of pinion gears for the Mugen MRX-5. Machined from high quality 7075 T6 aluminium and hard coated for the long life, they are available in 16T and 17T first gears and 20T and 21T second gears.

Team Powers Plutonium motor

Team Powers have announced the upcoming release of their Plutonium motor. This new design features a lightweight motor can and machined endbell and back plate for extra cooling, while the cans have also been left open for easy soldering. Full information on the different versions is expected soon.
