The Dirt Nitro Challenge – Announcement

The organisers of next month’s Dirt Nitro Challenge in Arizona were in touch to firstly introduce us to the new Dirt girl (above) and secondly to tell us that entries are still open for this awesome annual event. Taking place at the Nitro Pit facility in Witmann, AZ, the event attracts the best offroad drivers in the World and this year will be no exception. This 2011 event is open to both gas & electric buggy as well as truggy and short course classes with the event starting on Wednesday the 23rd of February for practice and running through to Sunday the 27th for the buggy mains. Martin Hudy wins Indoor EC Warmup

The warm-up for the upcoming indoor EC was held on January 22/23 in Hrotovice, Czech Republic and Martin Hudy produced this report. The warm-up race was organized together with a club race so along with the expected Modified class, there were also Stock and Hobby classes. The race was attended by drivers from Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, and Germany. The race started on Saturday with controlled practice and with one round of qualifiers in the evening. There were 3 rounds of qualifiers held on Sunday and 3 rounds of finals. Team Xray was present at the race to help and support all Xray drivers. The team was represented by Martin and Juraj Hudy, Zdenko Kunak, Zdenek Hamak, and David Ehrbar.

Kody Numedhal wins Field of Dreams Classic

This past weekend JConcepts team driver Kody Numedhal attended the 3rd annual Field of Dreams Classic in Garden City, Kansas. Many of the top drivers from Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas were in attendance for this great event. In qualifying Kody was able to put his Associated cars equipped with JConcepts Bar Code tires on the pole for both 2wd Modified, and 4wd Modified buggy. As the mains rolled around Kody knew that he had the cars to beat in both classes. In 4wd buggy, Kody dominated the event with wins in both A1 and A2. In 2wd buggy the event win would come down to the third A main, but once again Numedhal would find himself on top of the podium. Congratulations to Kody on taking home the wins in both 2wd Modified and 4wd Modified buggy at the 3rd annual Field of Dreams Classic.

Yokomo announce European TC driver lineup

Yokomo were in touch to officially announce their complete European on road team driver line up for 2011. The Japanese manufacturer has been virtually unbeatable this year in Europe with German driver Ronald Volker winning everything, with the exception of the Worlds, in the last 12 months. This kind of success has attracted a number of top level drivers to the team for the new year, including French contingent of Lucas Urbain, Loic Jasmin and Cyril N’Diaye. They join an already strong team which includes Yannic Pruemper, Vijami Kutvonen, Martin Hofer, Daniel Sieber and Michal Bok, the latter just joining the squad last November. Under the guidance of Robert Itoh and Umino Yukijiro we can once again expect Yokomo to perform strongly this season.

Thunder Power sign Viktor Wilck for 2011

Thunder Power Racing have announced the signing of multiple World and European Championship finalist Viktor Wilck to their team for 2011. The Tamiya factory driver will use the company’s new motors and batteries in both his TRF on road and off road cars. The Swedish driver had this to say about his new deal:

I’m happy to have signed with Thunder Power for 2011. After 3 years with SpeedPassion it was time to take on new challenges, I would like to thank Wilson and everybody else at SpeedPassion for this great time we had together and looking forward to develop, and be apart of, Thunder Power’s new racing line.

Pro-Line & Chad Bradley continue thru 2011

Pro-Line have announced that newly signed JQ Products driver Chad Bradley will continue to use their products heading into the 2011 racing season. Chad gave the following statement:

I would like to say how much of an honor it is to be part of the 2011 Pro-Line Team. I know that I will have the best tires, wheels, bodies and accessories to go with my 1/8 Buggy, 1/8 Truck and Short Course while I am at the track. I believe this will be my fifteenth year on the Pro-Line team and one thing that has stood out throughout the years has been the people behind the scene at Pro-Line and their passion on making the best products possible. Steven Weiss joins T.O.P. racing team

Having raced the new Photon touring car for some months now, former European Championship top qualifier and runner up Steven Weiss from Germany has officially joined the T.O.P. racing team. Steven will race the company’s Photon LiPo spec 2011 chassis in touring car as well as the Rebel12 in the 1/12th scale class. Prior to joining T.O.P. he ran for Yokomo which came after a 3 year stint with Xray.

Andy Moore wins BRCA Winter Nationals

The permanent indoor carpet track at Ardent Raceway was the venue for the BRCA Winter National meeting, qualifying was by FTD with the top thirty two qualifiers going on to race a Reedy style Race of Champions with all drivers using 10.5 pro stock motors. Drivers not making the cut would contest the clubman title. The majority of the top UK national drivers were booked in and full quotas of 102 drivers were led away by current UK national champion Chris Grainger.
