The opening round of the Polish Outdoor Touring car cup took place last weekend. In the modified class it was German driver Dennis Fadtke that took the win ahead of Morris Individo in 2nd, with Filip Zaremba taking 3rd spot. In the Junior Class DTM it was Michal Orlowski that took the win, while the Class Spec victory went to Stanislaw Pyrka.
The first round of this years BRCA touring car nationals took place at the weekend at the popular and technical West London track, a swirling wind causing problems for all the drivers on day one and threw away all the pre race testing and data. Early pace setter was defending champion Chris Grainger with his new Schumacher Mi4 but he was being chased hard by Xray star Elliott Harper and Associated’s Olly Jefferies, while in the pro Stock class Rob West was the class of the field with his older Schumacher Mi3.
The first round of the EP Off-Road Cup took place at the MRCmodels track in Moscow at the beginning of May. With 49 drivers in attendance, this years competitions will be held over 2 days, with the 2wd buggies, including the Slash, on the first day and the 4wd classes on the 2nd day. Saturday saw competitions held in 3 classes for 2wd buggy and two classes of Slash, Sport for stock out of the box models and Pro for drivers with optional parts, motors and batteries.
The Off Road Electric Section of AECAR were in contact to tell us about the unofficial warm-up race they are holding at the 2nd round of the Spanish Nationals in Bilbao on the same track as this summer’s European Championships. The event will take place on the 29th to 31st of May and is open to all international competitors with a full schedule in place for both 2wd and 4wd classes. oOple have their report from the first round of the BRCA 1/10th off road Nationals which were held at the Talywain track in Wales last weekend. In the 4wd class Tom Yardy (above) dominated qualifying, taking three of the four rounds and after Danny McGee took Leg one of the A final, Tom went on to win the next two legs to secure overall victory on this very challenging circuit. In 2wd X-Factory took all four qualifying rounds with two wins each for Phil Sleigh and his team mate & reigning 2WD Champion Ellis Stafford. Ellis took overall TQ, so it was Ellis, Sleigh and Lee Martin lining up on the grid. After three intense legs, Phil Sleigh took the overall win with a 1st and 2nd place finish.

Our good friend Scotty Ernst is once more running his World famous IIC race in Las Vegas, with this year’s edition running from the 7th – 12th of September, the week after labour day. Now in its fifth year, the 2009 event presented by Jaco/SMC will again be held right in the heart of Las Vegas, at the Rivera hotel on the world famous strip. As it proved so popular last year, this year’s event will once again finish up on Saturday, giving everyone the chance for a relaxed drive home on Sunday, meaning people dont have to take Monday free from work. In the past the IIC has been seen as a barometer for upcoming trends in RC racing, the event being the first major brushless event, the first to allow LiPo packs and the first to offer brushless handout motors, and this year its no exception, with all the 1/12th classes and both WGT classes required to use 1 cell LiPo batteries making this years IIC the first all LiPo event ever. The Much More backed Euro Touring Series roars back into action after a near 2 month break following the successful running of round 3 in Warsaw, Poland. The Championship visits the famous Apeldoorn track in the Netherlands for round 4 on the 29th to 31st of May and with entry currently open, we have already attracted some of Europe’s top racers with Jilles Groskamp, Viktor Wilck, Steen Graversen, as well as round 3 winner Yannic Pruemper already placing their entry. Organisers of the new Belgian Mini-Z National Series were in touch to tell us more about the series that has seen Mini-Z clubs in Belgium get together to form the Championship. Right now the calendar consists of 6 events, held at the different Mini-Z clubs throughout the countey and it will be open to racers in 3 classes, Expert, Standard and LM. The opening race of the series has already taken place back in March with the next round being run next weekend in Brugge, going on till next December, with a break in the summer.
