CRC report from 2008 IIC in Vegas

Calandra Racing Concepts, Inc. is reporting on a very successful race meeting at the 2008 International Indoor Championships held last week in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the ultra-competitive 1/12th modified class CRC driver Hupo Honigl from Austria was the T.Q. and winner driving the Generation-X chassis, while his team mate Jilles Groskamp from Holland, qualified 2nd with the same car. This result marks Hupo’s first big win in this class, a great performance in which he dominated the event and A-main by leading every lap. In the new World GT class featuring the new spec 200mm 1/10th pan cars, CRC’s new Gen-X 10 took the win in the hands of Mark Smyka. This new pan-car class used 200 mm sports car bodies with brushless motors and the revolutionary Gen-X 10 finished 1st and 4th, taking the first ever win in this new class.  In 1/12th stock, the CRC Gen-X was also T.Q. with driver Pete D’Agnolo winning every round of qualifying.

Matsukura retains JMRCA 1/12th title

The JMRCA Japanese 1/12th scale Nationals were run this weekend in Ishikawa in the centre of the country. Practice and qualifying were both interrupted by heavy rain, meaning it was difficult to run by the schedule, but the organisers managed to get it all done and after qualifying it was reigning Champion Naoto Matsukura that would line up on pole position for Yokomo with a dominant performance. In the finals the young racer was able to easily win all 3 of the A-mains to retain his National title ahead of Corally driver Saito in 2nd and Hideo Kitizawa, racing a HB Cyclone in 3rd.

Stotfold Nationals report by oOple

Stotfold Nationals report by oOple

Our friends over at oOple have a report from the final round of the 2008 BRCA 10th off road National Series which drew to a close at the all astro Stotfold track. The 2WD championship was already decided in favour of Ellis Stafford’s X-Factory X6, the 4WD title however had come down to the last meeting with only three possible winners, Lee Martin, Ellis Stafford and Chris Doughty. In 2wd Ellis Stafford qualified second behind Neil Cragg but it was Ellis that took the win to go with his 2WD championship title. Lee Martin in the 4WD class had won the series by round three of qualifying, with neither of his title challengers able to TQ the meeting for the extra point it meant they couldn’t catch him. Lining up second behind Darren Bloomfield, Lee took the first two legs of the A final to seal another National win.

Jörn Neumann wins German 2WD Nats

Jörn Neumann wins German 2WD Nats

Only two weeks after winning the 4WD Nationals at the Trier track in Germany Team Associated/Team Durango driver Jörn Neumann also secured himself the 2WD title. The championship was held at the challenging track of the MSC Karlsfeld located in the South German Munich area. The meeting that was held over two days suffered a bit from Saturdays rainy weather which caused some delay and affected the qualifying session since the clay track got very muddy which lead to questionable conditions during the last rounds on the first day. But come Sunday all of the 64 racers in both the stock and modified class were rewarded by beautiful sunny weather. Racing started with the remaining of the qualifying rounds and early start of the finals on Sunday noon. In 2WD (13.5T) Stock CS Electronic/Associated driver Christian Stanglmeier took TQ in front of “Old Dude” Eberhard Beck (Associated) and young Sebastian Findeisen (Associated). In 2WD Modified LRP/Associated driver Benni Gröschel secured himself the number one spot some nine seconds in front of Jörn Neumann (Associated) and “Fast Boy” Robert Hart (Associated).
