Marc Rheinard wins 2007 Reedy Race

Marc Rheinard wins 2007 Reedy Race

Last weekend saw the 2007 Reedy Touring Car Race held at Tamiya America’s soon to be closed track in California. Attracting a large amount of top international racers for the Invite class, the event features a qualifying & final race format in which the best six results from 8 rounds count and are used to determine the winner. After all the running it was German racer, and former World Champion, Marc Rheinard that could take the overall win, despite a slow first day that saw him down in 6th position meaning the Tamiya driver had to work hard on the Sunday to claim his second Reedy Race title in a row. British racer Craig Drescher, racing the all new Team Associated TC5, came home in 2nd place just ahead of his team mate Juho Levanen of Finland.

Jonas Kaerup signs to GM Racing

Jonas Kaerup signs to GM Racing

Former European 1:10 Touring Car Champion, Jonas Kaerup, has made the change to GM racing. The Danish driver will be using the GM Genius Brushless speedo’s, GM’s EVO 3 brushless motors along with GM’s VISCommander battery management system. Furthermore his cars will sport Graupner’s receiver and servo’s.

Jonas comments on the change: ” I felt that the time for a change was right, now that Touring Car is entering a new era of brushless motors and 5 cells. I have signed a 2 year deal with GM/Graupner, and I am already impressed by how professionel they are. In my mind GM has one of the very best electronic speedcontrol systems in the world, as my German Corally Teammate Marc Fischer, has already shown on more occasions. I look really forward to racing for GM “.

Indonesian EP 1/10 Nationals Rd1

Indonesian EP 1/10 Nationals Rd1

Xray are reporting on the 1st round of the Indonesian Electric Touring car Nationals that took place last weekend at the 1/8 scale super track in BSD city area. In qualifying Xray racer Yung Yung showed great racing skills by taking the TQ spot in rubber, while team mate Didi took TQ in foam and second spot on the grid in rubber.

Unfortunately the weather was not cooperative and it was raining lightly right before the mains. Racers and organizers decided to run the finals before the track became too wet. Right after the first leg of the A-final foam tire, the rain poured heavily and the organizer had to void the result for the final, and therefore the results from the qualifications counted.

DHI Cup secure future in Odense

DHI Cup

The organisers of the DHI Cup in Denmark, one of the biggest indoor electric events on the calendar, have been in touch to let us know that they have inked a three year deal with Odense Congress Centre to host the DHI-CUP.

It means that we will have perfect surroundings for our race, with 3000 m2 floor, large tribunal for viewers and visitors along with a great cafeteria. The track itself will have a size of 25 times 40 meters, on a brand new carpet perfect for racing. In recent years, many drivers have asked for more practise time before qualifying. Some racers even call the race, one of the toughest races in the world, because of the limited practise. The new deal with Odense Congress Centre means that we can build the track and pit Thursday before the race. Therefore practise will commence Friday morning. Also a new first for this race, will be a qualifying round Friday evening, to make the Saturday a little shorter with only 4 rounds, allowing racers to go out ( for dinner :-), or to relax and be fit for finals on sunday.

LoGiudice and Elliot Manchez, also driving a Kyosho Lazer ZX-5, qualified first and second. LoGiudice was a full second faster per lap and finished with a full lap on the entire field while Manchez finished in second. Teemu Leino wins Euros Warm up race

Teemu Leino wins Euros Warm up race

Xray are reporting on their site from last weekends European Championship warm up race held in France in the small city Montbrison, not far from Lyon. Thursday free practice had been lost due to rain but the weather picked up Friday lunch time for the rest of the weekend and so the racers could get some practice runs in, prior to Saturdays qualifying. Teemu Leino set the pace in qualifying for Xray while Tamiya racer Loic Jasmin was 2nd with another Xray in 3rd driven by Aurélien Threhout, in fact 8 of the 10 finalists drove Xray.

Teemu was unbeatable in the Sunday’s finals and won all three rounds. He showed not only the car’s performance but also his driving skills especially in the first final when he tried a not-so-good additive and was sliding around the track for the first 3 laps; however, he did not give anyone a chance to pass him and after few laps he was able to pull away. Jilles showed his enormous talent as well and he finished in overall 2nd position from his 8th qualifier post. Bart Wubben was lucky in the finals as well and finished 3rd from his 9th place and showed that he is the driver that would join the top drivers very soon.
