Toni Rheinard confirmed to Hot Bodies

A short while back we wrote a piece about the fact that Toni ‘brother of Marc’ Rheinard may be upping and leaving Kyosho, a company that he had only raced with for a short time, well that is now confirmed. In pictures from this weeks TITC race in Thailand we can see that Toni is now racing for Hot Bodies, which is a good move for both parties, with Toni hopefully able to get the exposure and success that being a HB driver brings, and HB getting a very talented racer. ~~Hopefully somebody will stand him against a wall and get a picture of him in his HB gear but in the meantime we’ll have to make do with my dodgy compilation shots above~~.

Batley Indoor Supercup

Neil Cragg - Batley Indoor Supercup

Last weekend saw the running of the Batley Indoor Supercup for buggies on a rather slippery and creative track, made using gym mats, rope and pieces of wood. In the 2wd class it was World Champion Neil Cragg that took the win, from the TQ spot, with his Team Associated B4 whilst in 4wd Ellis Stafford took the win with his X-Factory X-5.

R1GP Winter Attack Indoor Carpet Race Rd3

Xray have a report on their site from round 3 of the R1GP Winter attack Indoor Carpet race took place on the 10 – 11th of February, once again on the great indoor carpet track at the Olympic Gymnastic stadium in Seoul. With over 100 of the top drivers from Korea at the event, it was Ryan Lee driving an Xray T2007 that took the win in the Invitation class ahead of 2nd placed racer Ji Hyun Jang racing for Hot Bodies and 3rd placed racer Ishigawa Mamoru. In the 19T class Dong Il Seo took the win ahead of Woo Hyung Lim in 2nd with Han Sin Lee taking the last spot on the podium in third position.

Snowbird A-main Videos now online

Thanks to the wonder that is YouTube and the enthusiasm of some great spectators with a video camera we can bring you all the important A-mains from the Worlds biggest race, the Snowbirds. This is far better than the webcam as you can actually now see the far corner of the track, those who watched it live online will know what im talking about. The first one is above and is from the Touring Mod final that was won by Jilles Groskamp, the others are below.

Vialla wins Rd4 of French 1/12th Nationals

Philippe Vialla has won the 4th round of the French 1/12th scale Nationals held last weekend in Montbrison. Philippe raced his Team Laje SpeedEvil 07 to a fine win over 2nd placed Simon Rubet who was driving a CRC Carpet Knife. The final podium position went to round 1 and 2 winner Pierre-FranÃ§ois Brunet, the Associated RC12L4 driver also managing to wrap up the National title with this result, beating eventual runner up Simon Rubet to the top spot with Philippe Vialla claiming 3rd in the final points.

Race Announcement – Handy Models Grand Prix

We received a mail from the race organisers at the Cotswold Model Car Club asking us to plug their upcoming Handy Models Grand Prix and we were happy to oblige, after all thats what we’re here for. The Grand Prix will take place on the 17th and 18th of March on their fast looking new track and is open to Stock, 19T and Modified Electric touring, Gas foam and rubber as well as 1/5th bikes. It should be a good event and a good chance for gas and electric racers to mingle and see each others racing class up close.

Zuykov Denis wins at Russian Nationals

Xray have a report on their site about the recent Russian National electric touring car race that was held last weekend in Vladimir, not far from Moscow. In the Modified class Zuykov Denis dominated the event by taking TQ spot and the overall win, finishing ahead of team mate Lopukhin Artem whilst in stock class it was Smirnov Alex that took the win ahead of Drenâ€™kov Evgeniy.

Team XRAY dominated the qualifications up to the last final and as a result, best lap, TQ and win in TC10 were set by Team XRAY which was represented in the A final by Zuykov Denis, Artem Lopukhin, Bogdanov Vladimir. Itâ€™s also important to know that 11 year old Vladimir won the Junior Championship.

Barry Baker wins 2007 Magma race

I know this report is a little bit late, with the Magma race having taken place last month in Canada, but Xray have only now posted a report. Along with the local hotshots at the Fastcat R/C track, some top talent from the US made the trip up such as Baker, Easton and Dayger which made it a very special race. In the Mod and 19T class it was Baker who was setting the pace getting TQ for both and then managed to convert that advantage to wins in both classes. Billy Easton ended up in 2nd in modified followed by Keith Yu while in 19T Martin Crisp ran home 2nd followed by Keven Herbert in 3rd.
