Xu Qiliang & Ye Guowei win 555 Cup

555 Cup

As we reported earlier today, the 555 Cup was taking place in Canton (Guangzhou city), China this weekend, and it is one of the biggest races in China this year with lots of National and some International racers taking part in this electric and gas touring car event. Xu Qiliang, from the HK World Model Team, got the 1/10 GP Touring Car TQ yesterday and was able to take an easy win in todays main race ahead of Lee YuanJie in 2nd, driving a brand new Xray NT1. Third Place went to Mr Shi Zuer, from Macau, also driving a Serpent 720 while a special mention should be given to female driver Huo Biqi who made the main final in the GP class and finished in 7th place.

In the 1/10 EP Touring Car A Final, Ye Guowei won the race, driving a Tamiya TA05 while 2nd place went to yesterdays TQ man Wang Haifeng driving a Tamiya 415 with Dong Sizheng, running an Xray T2 007, ending the race in 3rd position.

Xu Qiliang & Wang Haifeng TQ 555 Cup

This weekend sees the 555 cup take place in Canton (Guangzhou city) in China, which is one of the biggest touring car races in the country. Drivers come from all over mainland China, including Hongkong and Macau, as well as some Japanese drivers join this race which makes it a very prestigous and competitive event. What makes this race stand out more from other touring car races is that it is open to both 1/10 EP Touring Car and 1/10 GP Touring Car. So far the action has been really good and after 3 rounds of qualifying, Mr.Wang Haifeng, from Jing-Hu-Hang RC Team has TQ’d the 1/10 EP Touring Car class, driving Tamiya 415, while in the 1/10 GP Touring car class it is Mr.Xu Qiliang (pictured above), from HK World Model Team, driving Serpent 720, that has taking the top spot. Russian EP Off-Road Cup Rd1

Last weekend saw the first round of the Russian Electric Buggy Off-Road Cup take place at the RC2 track in Moscow. The first outdoor buggy event of the year, the race took place under windy and cool conditions but it was dry and so the racing was very competitive. In the 2wd class (above) it was Dmitriy Malyshko that took the win, driving his Associated RC10B4 ahead of 2 more Assos, with Victor Spiridonov in 2nd and Alex Gorbunov in 3rd. In the 4wd class the win went to Tamiya TRF501X driver Evgeniy Fedulov with Losi XXX4 racer Nikita Groznov in 2nd place and Aleksandr Lebedev in 3rd position, driving a Yokomo MR4. The next round takes place on May 13th.

Eastbourne Electric Car Club open day

EECC Track

The people from the EECC have been in touch to announce their upcoming Open race day that will take place on their excellent new facility in Eastbourne in the south east of England. The Open day will happen on the 3rd of June and will be attended by top drivers such as confirmed entrants David Spashett, Chris Grainger and Andy Moore with the event open to Electric Touring cars in Mod, 19T and 27T categories. This is a great opportunity to run on this new track as well as run with the top guys so be sure to get your entry in soon to be ensured of a place.

Juho Levanen wins Fintrack Rd4

Fintrack Rd4

Round 4 of the Fintrack series was run 2 weekends ago at the mid sized Laukaa track, the last indoor race of the series, with 4 outdoor rounds to follow. As seems to be a recurring result it was once again Associated racer, and last weekends LRP masters winner, Juho Levanen that took the top spot in qualifying ahead of team mate Christer Andersson in 2nd and Corally driver Simo Ahoniemi in 3rd. In the race it was Levanen all the way, taking the win easily ahead of Ahoniemi in 2nd with 3rd place falling to Xray driver Pekka Koivula.

Cyril N'Daye wins Rd2 French EP Nats

While the rest of the top European racers were at the LRP Masters this weekend, the French drivers had to run the 2nd round of their National championships at the amazing permanent indoor track in Rumilly. Qualifying saw Xray driver Cyril N’Diaye take the top qualifying spot ahead of second placed Corally racer Jeremy Delalondre while in the race Cyril could carry his form through the main event and take the win ahead of 2nd placed fellow Xray racer Aurelien Threhout with 3rd place going to Jeremy Delalondre. Race Announcement – UK Much More GP

The organisers of the UK Much More GP have asked us to put up an announcement for their event which will take place on the 8th – 10th of June at the Minerwall Park, Stonehaven in Scotland.

Held at the extremely fast outdoor circuit in the beautiful setting of Scotland, UK, the Much More UK GP has already attracted international entries and also the man himself our very own Euro and World champ, Andy Moore. The owners and team from Much More Korea are also attending. There will be a marquee, 240V power, hot food and restrooms on site and MUCH MORE!

Juho Levanen takes LRP Masters crown

Last weekend saw the last major indoor race of the year, the 2007 LRP Masters, run in Eppelheim, Germany with the event attracting a huge number of quality drivers from around the world meaning the racing was very close and very tough. The event was TQ’d by Associated / LRP driver Juho Levanen with Tamiya driver Victor Wilck in 2nd and Dutch Xray driver Jilles Groskamp in 3rd. The racing was close but Juho made it look easy and managed to win the first 2, of the 3, A-mains to take the overall title with the positions behind him left to be sorted. You Sedish driver Wilck claimed the runner up spot with a 2nd and a 1st position while 3rd position went to German National Champion Ronald Volker driving his LRP powered HB Cyclone.
