Ronnefalk doubles at HB Racing European Race Days

The 2019 HB Racing European Race Days were held this past weekend at the ARCF42 track near Lyon, France. The event saw the attendance of world class drivers such as David Ronnefalk and Cole Ogden that not only competed but also gave help to racers. Other celebrities included Philippe Neidhart and Didier Boulmier as well as Nano and Jean-Marc Betticher. The track layout was amazing but very challenging even for the international drivers while the weather forecast was quite gloomy but the rain only fell on Sunday for a few minutes. In the Nitro buggy class, the race format was three 15-minute finals. The finals were a 3-horse battle between David, Cole and Hampus Berg. Cole won the opening final as David made a big mistake in the chicane and had to retire with a few minutes to go. After his DNF in A1, David was in control of things and he was able to win the last two finals and secured the overall victory. Cole came in 2nd and Hampus finished in 3rd. Over in the E-Buggy class it was Cole Ogden with the overall TQ, however after the four A-main events it was David with his second win this weekend from Cole 2nd and Hampus 3rd.

CJ Jelin wins at SoCal Shootout

The Pro-Line track in Banning, California played host to the 2019 SoCal Shootout recently. Xray’s Kyle Turner took the TQ in the 1/8th E-Buggy class and he would battle with Kyosho’s CJ Jelin for the win, but a wrong tyre compound choice, an off-setup left and a couple of mistakes meant he had to let CJ go for the win with Kyle coming in 2nd. TLR’s Dylan Nelson came in 3rd to round out the podium.

Ty Tessmann doubles at Big Barn Shootout

The 2019 Big Barn Shootout was held in Chilliwack, BC this past weekend. The track was very large, fast and a challenging layout. This year the event had a lot more entries which made for longer days and stiffer competition, with drivers coming from as far as Ontario and the North western United States as well as western Canada. The higher numbers made the track surface different from last year, it started out smooth and low grip, as the weekend went along the grip came up and the track started to develop some holes and ruts, which made the main events more challenging. Official practice started at 11am on Friday and went until 10pm, this was limited to five practice sessions per class entered and was regulated by punch cards. Saturday was three round of qualifying and it was Xray’s Ty Tessmann who was able to take the TQ in both classes.

Daniel Kobbevik doubles at Norwegian EP Buggy Nats Rd1

The opening round of Norwegian 1/10th Buggy Nationals was hosted by the KMBK club, located in Grimstad in the south of Norway. The track wasn’t huge but hospitality was, which made for a great weekend thanks to the professional club. The weekend kicked off with free practice on Friday and with the track layout being unchanged for some time, things would be very tight especially in the main 4WD class as most of the club’s members race in the ultra-fast wheeler category. Fast local driver Gisle Brøvig is a very strong driver and the biggest local hope for the race. On Saturday it was straight into 2WD qualifying – four rounds and best two counts. Daniel Kobbevkik took all qualify rounds by a huge margin, it was very open on podium spots behind Daniel, and nothing was settled before last A-main. Four drivers were fighting for the remaining podium spots: Adrian Sognestad had two 2nd place finished, but both Petter Berntsen and Oyvind Stusdal had one 3rd place each, and if they could take a win in last final they would push him down to 3rd. Vincent Ruger, another young and upcoming driver, was also in the mix for the podium, and he also needed a win to make it.

In the Modified division Mike Gee (Awesomatix) showed the way during practice turning the fastest lap and secured TQ honors after Q1. Sitting out Q2 it was Dave Vera (Awesomatix) who showed the way over Corey Parsons finishing a couple of seconds behind Gee’s finishing time. Sudhoff finally joins ETS winners club

He has come close in the past but today Freddy Sudhoff delivered on years of promise to finally take his first ETS win and add his name to the championship’s exclusive Winner’s Role of Honour. Having secured his first ever TQ yesterday in Spain, the Awesomatix driver converted that into his first win with a repeat dominant performance in A2, again ahead of Ronald Volker.  A hugely popular win for ‘Fabulous Freddy’, the Round 3 win also marks the first for Awesomatix in touring car’s premiere category and puts their long time lead driver now firmly in title contention.  The first outdoor races of the ETS season, Sudhoff’s success is also a significant boost for the Russian brand who previously struggled against their rivals on asphalt.  Finishing runner-up at the Asoger RC track today, Volker retains his championship lead but it is down to a single point with Sudhoff’s maximum points haul  moving him up to second spot.  With reigning champion Bruno Coelho having a tough weekend following his win at the previous round, ending up 7th, the podium was completed by Viktor Wilck ahead of Infinity team-mate Marc Rheinard.
