Essex Winter Series 2017/18 – Announcement

The EWS Events team has announced the 2017/18 Essex Winter Series presented by Infinity. The seventh season of one of the biggest on-road series in Europe will again feature the huge 24×34 metres ETS carpet track, and cater for touring cars in two classes – Modified and Super Stock 13.5 Blinky. Sweep Racing continue as the tyre supplier, with the unique EWS-branded tyres available from most good model shops, or on the day at the event from the organisers. The series will again feature five, one-day events throughout the winter months with entries now open and expected to fill up very quickly. Rob Janssen wins at Dutch On-road Nationals Rd5

Round 5 of the Dutch Electric On-road Nationals was held at the technical Hotwheels Deventer track. In the Touring Stock class Rob Janssen would take the TQ from Wesley van Dijken 2nd and Sybrand de Boer 3rd. In the finals Rob would make a clean sweep, taking wins in all three legs to snatch the overall win while Wesley and Sybrand battled for the runner-up spot, which further helped Rob up front. Ultimately Sybrand would prevail and take the 2 spot from Sybrand who rounded out the podium result.

2017/18 Xray Racing Series Poland – Announcement

Xray have announced the dates of the Xray Racing Series Poland for the 2017/18 season. The on-road series will kick off on the weekend of the 23rd of September in Scinawka Srednia with the final round being held on the 10th of March 2018. Classes run will be Touring Modified, Touring Stock and Formula and more information can be found here and here.

Arrowmax Cup Malaysia Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the Arrowmax Cup Malaysia was held at the Kota Raja RC Arena in Klang, Malaysia. The event attracted 50 entries for the three classes of Touring 13.5T Boosted, Touring 13.5T Blinky, and Formula. The premier 13.5T Boosted category saw the battle between Wong Kok Wai and Michael Lo for the TQ spot from the get go, with the two drivers being the only ones to dip into the 15-seconds laps. For the 13.5T Blinky class it was Dino Sidhu who set the pace with 16-seconds laps while in Formula it was Eric Ang who lead the proceedings. Finally the TQs went to Wong Kok Wai in Boosted, to Dino in Blinky and Eric in Formula.

Jared Phair wins at RC Madness Off-Road Nationals

The RC Madness Off-road Nationals were recently held at RC Madness in Enfield, Connecticut. Sunny and warm weather left the outdoor dirt track with a medium level of grip and in the 1/8th E-Buggy class Jared Phair would walk away with the win from Matt McCready 2nd and Caleb Jennings 3rd.

Wang Haifeng wins at 2017 Hobbywing Cup

The 2017 Hobbywing Cup was held at the SYE Arena in Shanghai. After cancellations in 2015 and 2016 this year’s event would take place in changeable and unpredictable weather but ultimately four qualifiers and all triple mains could be held. In the premier Touring Modified class, Wang Haifeng took the overall victory from Lu Junqiao 2nd and TQ holder Huang Kuisheng who rounded out the podium result.

The Wicked Weekend – Report

Last weekend The Wicked Weekend was held in Gainsville, Georgia. This year, the organisers came up with a new practice schedule highlighted by splitting the practice into two groups that made the overall racing experience more enjoyable for all competitors in attendance. Dave Leikam took a gamble and delivered a better, more efficient race program that allowed drivers more practice time with an A and B group. With over 600 entries, this split program was crucial in making practice more beneficial for everyone.

Jörn Neumann takes German Stadium Truck title

During last weekend’s German 4WD Off-road Nationals not only 4WD Modified and Stock classes were run but also a 2WD Stadium Truck category. Jörn Neumann, who ran a Team Durango truck, would take the overall win, following 1st place finishes in A1 and A2, from the Xray duo of Jens Becker and Kim Sitensky. Kai Dittes (Xray) and Stefan Mößner (Team Associated) rounded out the podium result.
