Nicholas Lee teams up with Yokomo

Yokomo has announced the signing of touring car specialist Nicholas Lee to the team. With 20 years of experience under his belt, the 24 year old brings a wealth of knowledge to the team, further strengthening Yokomo’s on-road squad. Based out of Singapore but travelling to many races all over, he will be a great addition to the company’s presence in Asia, but he is also set for attendances at the bigger races in Europe as well. Nicholas is eager to take his racing to the next level, and looks forward to working with the entire team to accomplish his racing goals. The former Tamiya drivers has the following to say about the deal:

After 5 great years driving Tamiya for Stargek, it was ultimately difficult to change to another team. For some reasons, i thought it was finally the right time to change. I would like to thank the entire Yokomo team for this great opportunity.

Ryan Cavalieri sweeps Horizon Hobby Off-Road Champs

As the season turns from Summer to Fall, racers from the Midwest migrate indoors to race for the winter. One of the signature events of this time of year is hosted by Trackside Hobbies & Raceway just outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Now re-branded as the Horizon Hobby Offroad Championships, racers from across the country visit the professionally run and maintained facility to see how they stack up against an impressive group of local talent. Covering the four major modified classes, the duo of 5-time 2015 ROAR National Champion Ryan Cavalieri and newly-crowned IFMAR 2WD World Champion, Spencer Rivkin top qualified all of them with Cavalieri starting first in 2WD, 4WD, and Short Course Modified with Rivkin taking the TQ in 2WD Truck Modified.

Chris Nielsen wins at DRCMU Series Rd3

The third round of the the Danish DRCMU series was held in Tinglev, in the southern part of Denmark, close to the German border. This meant that the race attracted quite a few German racers, and therefore the driver lineup was the biggest of the series so far. In the Touring 17.5T Blinky class championship leader Chris Nielsen came out fastest after the practice from Bjarke Nyskov and Rasmus Skjoldborg Jakobsen. The qualifiers then had Bjarke coming out fastest by winning Q1 and Q2 while Chris was able to take the TQ in the final qualifier to grab the 2 spot on the grid. Nicolai Nielsen would end the qualifiers on the 3 spot, Mirko Scheuer rounded out the top 4 result.

Malaysian National Championship Rd6 – Report

The sixth and final round of the Malaysian National Championship was held at the huge KLIRCC track in Kuala Lumpur, home of this year’s Large Scale World Championships and GT8 Cup. The MNC was held for the first time at this track and the event attracted a record entry of around 80 racers that signed in to race in the the four classes of Touring Modified, Touring 13.5T Boosted, Touring 13.5T Blinky and Mini. In the Touring Modified class Azri Amri grabbed the TQ and the win in front of Wong Kok Wai in second and Michael Lim in third.

French 1/10th Off-road Nationals final round – Report

French 1/10th Off-road Nationals final round – Report

The final round of the French 1/10th Off-road National Championship was held in Neuvile de Poitou. High-grip carpet combined with low-grip sections made setup a bit tricky and in the 4WD class it was Lorenzo Crolla (Xray) who came out fastest from Xray teammate Mathieu Briere who both won two qualifiers but the better tie-breaker would hand Lorenzo the overall TQ. In the finals, Lorenzo was again super fast and he didn’t make any mistakes, sweeping all three finals for the overall win. Behind him the race was on for the runner-up spot between Mathieu Briere and Julien Formentin (Team Associated) with the better end for Julien. Mathieu then would round out the top 3 result.

Matteo Berlincioni takes Italian Formula title

The Italian AMSCI Electric Outdoor Championships were recently held at the Miniautodromo Il Lombrico in Milazzo. 80 drivers from all over Italy fought for the title in the three classes of Touring Modified, Touring 13.5T as well as Formula. In the Formula class Matteo Berlincioni (MDRacing) would TQ the opening qualifying round while Basile (Tamiya) came out fastest in round two. The remaining qualifiers would be held on Sunday morning and it was again Berlincioni who was on a mission by TQing round three and four, which allowed him to sit out the fifth and final round to save tyres for the finals. With Berlincioni, Basile, and Putrino (Xray) all scoring round TQs the title fight was on between these three drivers in the finals. Ultimately Berlincioni would be able to convert his pole position into wins in A1 and A2 to take the Italian national title from Basile and Putrino.

‪Alex Ilievski takes Australian Touring 13.5T title

This year’s Australian National Championships were held at the Whalan Model Car Club in NSW. The event attracted more than 100 entries, bringing the best drivers from around Australia in all classes. With four different drivers in Touring Stock 13.5 having a TQ on Saturday the top qualifier was still up grabs on Sunday morning. Ultimately Tony McMahon was able to put together two fast round to take the TQ.‬

Adam Drake doubles at JBRL Nitro Series finale

Thunder Alley Raceway Beaumont, CA. hosted the final round of the JBRL Nitro Series. The event had 180 entries and as always attracted a good mixture of World-class drivers and regional talent. Adam Drake was top qualifier in Electric Buggy and Drew Moller was the top qualifier in Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truck but it was Adam Drake who took the win in the premier Nitro Buggy class. Drew Moller finished second and Steve Harris rounded out the podium in third. In the Nitro Truck category Drake and Moller had a great race, but in the end Drake took the win. Moller and Gomez finished second and third. Elsewhere in the E-Buggy class, Steve Harris grabbed the win followed by Drake and Snyder.
