Tamiya Championships Series Finals – Report

The Tamiya Championship Series Finals have concluded at Tamiya America’s world class racing facility in Aliso Viejo, California. The event spanned two days of racing action this past weekend. This year’s finals celebrated 20 years of on-road racing as it was the 20th anniversary of the Tamiya America promotional racing series. There are 8 new champions, four of which will be moving on to the Tamiya World Championships in Shizuoka Japan in November before the Thanksgiving Holiday. The four Champions that will be moving on to Tamiya World Championships are Nathan Weir in the GT-1 class, Craig Hammon in Formula One, Julian Wong in GT-2, and Danny Egger for the M-chassis class.

Michal Orlowski wins Junior European TC title

Michal Orlowski wins Junior European TC title

During last weekend’s EFRA European Electric Touring Car Championships Team Durango’s Michal Orlowski took the Junior title with his Speed Passion powered DETC410. A 16th place overall in the Modified class allowed him to leave his competitors behind.

Völker & Cerny take Electric Touring Euro titles

The 2014 EFRA Electric Touring Car Championships were held this past weekend in Alcobendas, Spain. Xray’s Bruno Coelho took a surprise TQ in the Modified class, beating World Champions such as Marc Rheinard and Jilles Groskamp. Bruno then looked like he would be able to wrap up the Euro title but a capacitor failure in the 2nd final prevented him to fight for the win and he had to settle for 2nd place, allowing Ronald Völker (Yokomo) to wrap up another EFRA championship.

German Electric Touring Car Nationals – Report

This year’s German Electric Touring Car Nationals took place at the MSC Braunschweig track in Northern Germany in the three classes of Modified, 13.5T Sport Stock and 17.5T Hobby Stock. The weather made for challenging conditions in the practice heats but the qualifying and finals would be held in dry conditions. In the Modified class it was Ronald Völker who would take the 2014 championship honours from Marc Rheinard and Marc Fischer. Stefan Heisterkamp took the 40+ title while Tim Kohmann grabbed the title for the best youngster in the Modified class.

Mark Lim dominates 2014 Singapore Open Buggy series

The 5th season of the NOOB Singapore Open Buggy Series came to a conclusion with the running of the final rounds of both the 2WD and 4WD classes over the last 2 weekends at the Raceworks Arena. In the 4WD class, Mark had already secured the 4WD title with 3 wins in this best 3 of 5 national series. He would complete the sweep in convincing fashion taking all 3 finals of the A Main comfortably to make it 4 wins out of 5.

BRCA Clubmans Round 6 Report

Round 6 brought the final round of the BRCA Clubman Series 2014. Finishing in the midlands up at Stafford, this well known track for its challenging conditions and grip was mixed with the weather which seen drivers looking at the track all day deciding which car to use because the weather could of changed at any second. Round 1 of qualifying started on the Sunday wet with light rain at the start of the round. Due to the weather conditions, the race director decided to make qualifying round by round. In 17.5, Darren Tickner took the honours of TQ followed by Jason Butterfield then David Hough. In 13.5, weather conditions are still mixed with rain dropping and then drying up again. Local driver Andrew Robson managed to find some pace taking first place, followed by Liam Brooks then Ben Putt.

Simon Nicholson joins Team Yokomo

Simon Nicholson joins Team Yokomo

Yokomo have announced the signing of multiple National and State championship winning Australian racer Simon Nicholson. The former Kyosho driver will compete together with Yokomo at this year’s State championships, Australian National championships and World championships in the USA as well as the TITC in Thailand early next year. He had this to say:

I would like to thank Mitsuo, Chikuba and the rest of the team from Kyosho Japan for all their help and support the last few years. I am very excited to be joining Team Yokomo and many thanks to Robert Itoh, Aso Minoru, Yukijiro Umino and Tom Yokobori for accepting me into the team.

Olivier Bultnyck takes Rd6 in Belgium

The host for the 6th round of the Belgian nationals was the club of Genk, MRG. Located next to the famous karting circuit and hoping that the weather would be good, the Efra drivers ran there qualifications under varying conditions. Olivier Bultynck, for the sixth time champion, placed his VBC on pole position, in front of Nick Joosens and Nicolas Delisé. In the first final it was Olivier who slid his car in the second corner and lost the lead. Nick went away followed by Rico Claeys and Olivier. Olivier had to fight back and overtook Rico with a nice move. Meanwhile Nick was in the lead with a gap of more than 2 seconds. But Olivier was fast and in the last lap he was on Nick’s tale. Nick kept his coolness and took victory in front of Olivier and Rico.
