Hartson TQs 4WD in St.Louis

Steven Hartson is Top Qualifier of 4WD Buggy at the JConcepts Winter Indoor Nationals at SmacTrac, St.Louis, the Associated driver securing the honour as team-mate Tanner Denney topped the fourth & final qualifier.  Running in the C heat, Denney posted the fastest qualifier of the weekend finishing 1.4 seconds up on Xray’s Josh Wheeler.  The only driver who could challenge Hartson for pole in  the Main, JR Mitch looked on target to take Q4 but a late mistake dropped the Q3 Top Qualifier down the order with the Team Losi Racing driver only able to recover to take third just in front of Hartson.  As a result Mitch will start third on the grid behind the B44.2’s of Hartson and Denney while Wheeler’s XB4 starts fourth.

Denney claims first TQ for new B5

Denney claims first TQ for new B5

Tanner Denney has claimed the first major TQ for Team Associated’s all new B5, the 18-year-old taking the honour of Top Qualifier in 2WD Buggy at the opening round of the JConcepts Indoor National Series in St.Louis.  Having TQ’d Q2, the Arizona driver backed up his 21-lap run with another in Q3 to put the pole position beyond reach of his only potential rival for the top spot, team-mate Steven Hartson.  Despite a late decision by the organisers of the Winter Indoor Nationals to add a fourth round of qualifying at the SmacTrac, Hartson’s 20-lap topping Q1 pace means that if if he was to TQ the final qualifier he would loose on tie break a 22-lap run needed is beyond even the World Champion.

Steven Hartson has TQ’d the opening round of 2WD Buggy at the JConcepts Winter Indoor Nationals, the Team Associated driver taking his new B5 to the fastest time in the first of the three qualifiers at SmacTrac ahead of TLR’s Cody Hollis.  Having set the pace in yesterday’s timed practice, Tanner Denney looked on target to continue where he left off setting the TQ pace until he came across traffic that would hamper his run leaving him drop back to finished a slightly frustrated 3rd.

Brian Henn take Rd1 of the RC Pro Series

Brian Henn take Rd1 of the RC Pro Series

Round 1 of the RC Pro Series kicked off at Ultimate RC in Alvin, Texas. Mother Nature would make an appearance with an Ice storm blowing in cancelling Friday practice. Saturday practice was “wet” causing cars to pick up weight, however come qualifying time the track would dry up enough to race on. Due to the practice the program was cut short to 2 qualifiers which allowed Tekin powered Brian “Smiley” Henn to TQ 4wd SC and take 2nd in Pro 1/8 E Buggy. Back on schedule had mains running on Sunday. The track was nice and dry but a little rough due to the weather. First up was 1/8 Pro E-buggy where Henn would take A1 battling it out with Jake Dillinger. A2 was much of the same the two battling for the lead however Dillinger would take A2. Due to the reduced schedule only two A’s were ran with the tie breaker coming down to average times, giving Henn the win. In Pro 4 SC it was the “Smiley Henn” show with Brian taking both A1 and A2 in dominating fashion.
