Neumann wins A1

Jörn Neumann has won the opening A-Main of 2WD at the Euro Offroad Series in Germany.  Top Qualifier for the season finale, the Schumacher driver took a tone to tone win but the race wasn’t without its moments for the former champion. Leading from title contender Neil Cragg after Joona Haatanen made an error on the second lap, on the next lap Neumann got stuck in the piping. Luckily for the German Cragg’s Team Associated marshalled his car sending him back on his way in the lead.  The same incident would effectively end championship leader Michal Orlowski’s race as trying to avoid Neumann and Cragg he crashed and dropped down the order.  Benefiting from these incidents, Lee Martin would move up to second from fifth on the grid.  Starting to mount a challenge on the leader he would have a mistake of his own on the penultimate lap that allowed Neumann to take the win by 1.1-seconds. Behind Martin, Cragg completed the Top 3 followed by Bruno Coelho and Haatanen.

Neumann is Top Qualifier for first outdoor EOS encounter

Having TQ’d the inaugural round of the Euro Offroad Series 6-years ago, Joern Neumann has repeated the feat at the championship’s first ever outdoor race this weekend at Arena33 in Germany. After a lean number of the season’s in the championship he once dominated, the German came out top of an exciting conclusion to 2WD qualifying taking the fourth & final qualifier by 0.031 from Neil Cragg to secure his first pole position start in 4 seasons.  Joining Schumacher at the start of 2018, the TQ is a significant one for his new team as it helps team-mate Michal Orlowski’s title hopes by denying rival Cragg from leading away the grid in tomorrow’s title deciding triple A-Mains.  Instead Cragg will start third behind his own team-mate Joona Haatanen with Orlowski, who wouldn’t complete Q4, starting 4th.

Cragg & Neumann post TQ runs, all to be decided in Q4

With three rounds of qualifying complete at the Euro Offroad Series in Germany it is still all to play for in terms of the overall TQ at the season finale with three different drivers topping the times.  After Joona Haatanen took the opening qualifier at Arena33 ahead of Bruno Coelho, it was Team Associated team-mate Neil Cragg who took Q2 ahead of title rival Michal Orlowski.  In Q3, it was Orlowski’s Schumacher team-mate & top seed Joern Neumann who would come out on top ahead of Haatanen and Cragg, both drivers having errors on their final lap.  Now with one qualifier remaining, 5 drivers are in contention to become the Top Qualifier for the EOS’ first ever race outdoors with tyre strategy set to play a part.

Haatanen takes opening qualifier at EOS finale

Joona Haatanen has taken the opening 2WD qualifier at the season finale of the Euro Offroad Series at Arena33 in Germany.  The Team Associated driver posted the fastest time ahead of Bruno Coelho after the Xray driver had a moment on his final lap that would cost him 1-second, the separation just under 6/10ths.  With most drivers having errors over the 5-minutes, Neil Cragg would get it wrong on the opening lap but a good drive for the remainder of the qualifier picked him up a P3 ahead of Daniel Kobbevik and Lee Martin.  For top seed Joern Neumann, a good first lap led the Schumacher driver to push harder on his second lap leading to a mistake with subsequent errors leaving him with a P8 for Q1. Team-mate & championship leader Michal Orlowski also had an error filled run and could only manage the 10th fastest time.

Neumann top seed at first outdoor EOS

Joern Neumann has topped 2WD seeding at the first ever outdoor race of the Euro Offroad Series, the Schumacher driver putting in the fastest three consecutive laps on the new astro turf track at Arena33 in Germany.  A hot sunny day in Andernach, Neumann would top the two rounds of controlled practice from the Yokomo of Lee Martin and with Xray’s Bruno Coelho completing the Top 3.  The concluding round of the championship with the title undecided, contenders Neil Cragg and Michal Orlowski would put down the 5th and 7th fastest times.

First ever outdoor EOS event to decide Champions

The Euro Offroad Series will run it’s first ever outdoor race this weekend (20-22 April) with the German encounter set to decide this season’s champion or champions depending on the outcome.  Added to the EOS calendar last season shortly after opening the doors to its new indoor facility, Arena 33 has subsequently added an outdoor astro surface track that has just been completed in time for the Season #7 finale, setting the stage for an extra interesting 2017/18 title showdown. Unlike last season, when both titles had already been decided before the concluding race, the defending buggy champions have challengers to them retaining their titles. After holding 28 championship races indoors, even the weather looks set to shine on the first outdoor EOS encounter, with temperatures in the high 20s forecast for Andernach.

Coelho grabs victory at EOS Austria

Bruno Coelho has grabbed a somewhat unexpected victory at the penultimate round of the Euro Offroad Series in Austria.  Having had to concede to the impressive performance of the Schumacher team in qualifying, the reigning 4WD Champion would capitalize on errors by his rivals in the finals, capping off the weekend with a win in A3 in front of Michal Orlowski to claim an important second win of the season given he was absent from the third round.  Behind, Joern Neumann would finish second overall, the German unable to hold onto the second he needed in A3 to claim the overall win.  Adding to Orlowski’s frustrating run in the finals, the weekend’s 2WD winner would not even make the podium, some smart driving by Daniel Kobbevik in A1 & 2 rewarded with 3rd overall.

Neumann wins A2, all to play for in A3

Joern Neumann has won the second A-Main of 4WD at the Euro Offroad Series in Austria, the Schumacher driver managing to prevent A1 winner Bruno Coelho from snatching an early win at the penultimate round of the championship.  Top Qualifier Michal Orlowski, who had issues in A1, led away the field but on the first run through the triple landed his car on its roof. Afterwards it turned out Orlowski’s view of his car had been blocked for a second time today by a marshal attending a car causing his bad landing.  This moved Neumann to the front but he was under pressure from Coelho.  Holding the Xray driver at bay for 6-laps, Coelho would manage a mistake in his quest to get by, allowing the German to then control the race and win ahead of Daniel Kobbevik who actually leads the points going into A3 with a pair of second places.  Also benefiting from the mistakes up front Martin Wollanka completed the Top 3 ahead of Orlowski and Coelho, leaving the race wide open in terms of who can take the overall win.
