Orlowski is double EOS Champion

Michal Orlowski has pulled off the championship double at the Euro Offroad Series season finale in Germany.  Have retained his 2WD title yesterday at Arena33, the Schumacher driver won the opening two A-Mains of 4WD to take both the first ever outdoor EOS encounter and the overall title.  Only the third driver in the championship’s history to do the double, the Polish driver would definitely earn the victory. With himself and Top Qualifier Joern Neumann pulling clear of the field in A2, they would battle hard with the team-mates clearly given free reign to battle irrespective of the title being at stake for Orlowski.  A mistake by Neumann which would collect Orlowski’s car would see the later go to the front with the German putting him under immense pressure over the final 2 laps with them drag racing one another to the line.  With a 0.092 margin it was Orlowski who took it which together with his much easier A1 win took the vital overall win that was his only option in terms of taking the title from defending champion Bruno Coelho. Both drivers would end the season on the same points but Orlowski’s win gave him the tiebreaker – 3 wins over Coelho’s 2.

Orlowski takes important A1 win

Michal Orlowski has taken an important A1 victory at the EOS finale in Germany, the Schumacher driver going to the front on the opening lap after a mistake by team-mate & Top Qualifier Joern Neumann.  Chased by title rival Bruno Coelho, the Pole then got a further break when the defending champion traction rolled allowing Orlowski to take control of the race and even survive a small mid race roll.  With Neumann and Coelho’s incidents dropping them down the field it would be 6th place starter Martin Wollanka who would finish second.  The Austrian would see off a strong challenge from Neil Cragg who completed the top 3 ahead of AE team-mate Joona Haatanen, Neumann and Martin.

After pulling up in the opening qualifier last night, title challenger Michal Orlowski would complete the Top 3 ahead of his Schumacher team-mate.  A close qualifier, with 2nd to 5th all running 5:08 times, Martin Wollanka would take his Sworkz to the 5th fastest time with Joona Haatanen rounding out the Top 6.

Neumann takes opening 4WD qualifier

Joern Neumann has taken the opening round of 4WD qualifying at the Euro Offroad Series season finale in Germany. Despite twice crashing in the same spot, the Schumacher driver would just hold on to TQ ahead of Lee Martin in a round that saw almost all the drivers make mistakes. Having topped seeding Michal Orlowski made a costly error on his second lap losing 7-seconds and following further errors eventually decided to pull off. Coelho was the early pace setter but he too had mistakes which saw him and Neumann swapping positions until he dropped 2-seconds to the German with a mistake on the penultimate lap.  Martin would also run at the top of the timing screens for a time until he had a tumble in front of Neumann all of which played into the hands of 10th seed Neil Cragg who would have a clean run to get a Top 3 finish.

Orlowski tops 4WD seeding at EOS finale

Michal Orlowski has got his hopes of doing the title double off to a promising start at the Euro Offroad Series by topping seeding from defending champion Bruno Coelho.  The Schumacher driver, fresh from successfully defending his 2WD title earlier in the day at Arena 33, set the fastest 3-consecutive laps in the first of the two rounds of controlled practice with almost nothing separating him and Coelho. Just 0.067 of a second slower, Coelho also ran his best time in CP1 having set the early pace over the 3-rounds of Free Practice. Taking the 2WD win in Germany, Joern Neumann would complete the Top 3 and while overall a slower run for the majority of drivers would set the quickest time of CP2.  One driver to post his quickest time in CP2 was Martin Wollanka who seeds 5th for qualifying in between youngsters Daniel Kobbevik (P4) and Joona Haatanen (P6).

Orlowski defends EOS title, Neumann takes the win

Michal Orlowski has successfully defended his Euro Offroad Series title. The Schumacher driver retained the 2WD Championship thanks to team-mate Joern Neumann who took the overall victory at the championship’s first ever outdoor event at Arena 33 in Germany.  Coming into the weekend, Team Associated’s Neil Cragg was Orlowski’s only remaining challenger and on the switch to astro turf the British driver had the experience advantage.  In qualifying it was Neumann who got the TQ ahead of Joona Haatanen with the title opponents lining up with Cragg 3rd and Orlowski 4th.  With Neumann claiming A1, a mistake from the German saved by his car being marshalled by Cragg’s car, the second one went to Haatanen ahead of Cragg.  This set the stage for a three way fight for the overall win, Cragg’s title hopes still alive but it was short lived.  At the start, the second corner would catch out Cragg sending him up down the field.  With Orlowski knowing the title was now his, after having two disappointing races in the first two A-Mains, he chased down the lead battle going to the front when Haatanen clashed with Neumann and crossed the line with the A3 win to make his title defence official.  Behind, Bruno Coelho was second ahead of Cragg while Neumann held off Haatanen to secure his first EOS race win since 2015 with Cragg taking second and Haatanen 3rd.  Orlowski would miss the podium on time but that didn’t matter as he got what he came for – the EOS Season#7 title.

Haatanen takes A2, winner & title to be decided in A3

Joona Haatanen has won the second A-Main at the season finale of the Euro Offroad Series at Arena33.  After an error on the opening lap of A1, the Team Associated driver put in a very patient drive sitting on the rear wing of Top Qualifier Joern Neumann before a mistake from the A1 winner let him through.  Next it was the turn of title contender Neil Cragg to go by the Schumacher, the British driver not needing to be invited to put a pass on the former champion when he ran wide into a corner.  With Neumann finishing third, it means three drivers have the potential to take the overall win at the EOS’ first outdoor race with the result also set to decide this year’s 2WD champion.  Having tangled with Bruno Coelho in A2, finishing up 5th, Michal Orlowski can’t take the win but will be hoping his team-mate Neumann does, as a win for Cragg would would secure the British driver the overall title.
