Stiles & Losi win BRCA Micro Nationals Rd2

Stiles & Losi win BRCA Micro Nationals Rd2

Round 2 of the BRCA micro off road nationals took place in Telford last weekend. This venue was agreed at a relatively late stage in the series organisation process because another venue had to withdraw their application to host the meeting. The host club presented the drivers with a slightly unusual track, made up of mostly flat polished wood sections with minimal carpet and only a couple of jumps. Opinions were mixed, but in fact almost everyone admitted to enjoying the challenge of racing on an unfamiliar track style, and the racing was close and clean all day.

Halloween Classic double for Larry Fairtrace

Halloween Classic double for Larry Fairtrace

TOP Racing team driver Larry Fairtrace sent us this report from the 2011 Halloween Classic which took place last weekend at the Gate in Brunswick, Ohio. “We arrived late to the Halloween Classic. Friday all day was practice, but we had to work on Friday so we drove all through the night to arrive at the track Saturday morning at 7am. This gave us 3.5 hours of practice, racing was set to start at 11am. I practiced a few times with my Photon and made some changes based on the amount of traction. I arrived with the setup I ran at the IIC but it was pushy with too much all around traction. I migrated back closer to my standard carpet setup by the end of practice. I put my Rebel on the track one time in practice and it was very good right out of the gate. I was pretty satisfied with it and knew new tires would make it that much better so I shelved it until racing started and concentrated on my Photon.

Jason Branham takes RC Pro titles

Jason Branham takes RC Pro titles

This past weekend Agama/Pro-Line racer Jason Branham attended the RC Pro International Finals in Porter, TX,just outside of Houston, at Mike’s Hobbies and Gulf Coast Raceway and wrote this report. Gulf Coast Raceway is probably one of the finest race facilities you will find in the country and as host of the 2010 IFMAR Sedan World Championships, GCR was very excited to host their first major off-road race. The crew did a fantastic job with the layout which made for some very fast and close racing. I came into the Finals tied in points with Ryan Lutz in Pro Buggy and Mike Battaile in Pro Arena Truck so I knew right off the bat that if was going to take the titles then I was going to have to finish ahead of these guys as well as the rest of the field to do so.

Tanner Denney wins at KBRL Rd2

Tanner Denney wins at KBRL Rd2

Round 2 of the KBRL Series kicked off at the Fear Farm located in Phoenix, Arizona. A record 200 entries showed up to compete in the fast-growing series. The traction level provided was extremely hooked up with a watered surface making it relatively loose when it was dry. Tire choice as well as driver changes were necessary to compete all day long at the Fear Farm. During the opening moments of the main event, mistakes by the leaders sent cars in all directions. Tanner Denney emerged with the lead and stretched it with his Reedy/LRP equipped B4.1 to a 10-second margin. Associated teammate Brian Kinwald remained in the second position and looked to hunt down Denney. During the closing laps, Tanner got caught up in traffic, allowing the margin between him and Kinwald to be cut in half. Tanner would not be denied and finished off the remaining laps in style, cruising to a sizable victory on the popular series. Brian Kinwald finished second and Chris Wheeler third.

Johnson & Buran win Annual Halloween Classic

Johnson & Buran win Annual Halloween Classic

The Annual Halloween Classic event in Ohio has been held in many different venues over the long history of the race. From the early days on the westside of Cleveland, to the Mentor area, Strongsville and now in the hands of the Gate in Brunswick, Ohio, the race has bounced around the area. One thing that has not changed over the years is the high level of competition at the event. In addition to a strong field of talent, the event was sold out for 2011. The venue ran out of physical space at 180 entries, simply could not fit another racer, an incredible turnout.
