Batlle TQ’s European Championships

Robert Batlle TQ's European Championships

Todays final day of qualifying at the 1/8th scale TT European Championships in Auxerre France started off wet, with the rain continuing to fall until 9.30am, but by 11.30am however the covers were off and the track was ready to go again. Carrying on his form from the final qualifying round yesterday, HoBao driver Robert Batlle of Spain, racing the new Hyper 8.5, claimed the overall TQ position with 2 more great runs today to put him 1 point ahead of 2nd placed qualifier, current European Champion, Yannick Aigoin. The Xray driver had 2 steady runs to secure his position at the sharp end of the field, well clear of overnight pole man Davide Tortorici of Italy. The Crono driver wasnt able to pixk up his pace in order to hold onto his pole position spot as this position is worth nothing but the bragging rights that comes with it, i’m sure he’s happy with his place in the Semi final and he is still very much in contention for the win. Tomorrow sees more sub finals run as well as the main finals, and we hope to bring you the final results at the end of the day when we get them.

Green wins Rd6 of UK 1/8th Nats

Green wins Rd6 of UK 1/8th Nats

The 6th round of the 2007 1/8th scale BRCA National Championships took place at the Brooklands track last weekend in the south of England. Qualifying saw multiple round winner Mark Green claim pole position, the Serpent driver beating 2nd placed Gareth Bell, driving for Mugen, by 6 seconds while 3rd spot belonged to Andrew North less than a second behind Bell. In the final it started with Mark Green out in front closely followed by Bell and Hastings with North dropping down a spot due to cold tires. Richard Hicklin, who was charging through the field from 10th place grid position, soon worked his way up to 5th and after a mistake by North, he moved up into 4th. Things started to get lively when Green ran out of fuel just before his second stop putting Hastings into the lead who then blew a plug which cost him 6 laps and any chance of the win. Andrew North, who was on a charge, had a coming together with Hicklin which put the Serpent driver out on the spot, but Andrew recovered and finished 3rd with Mark Green taking the win, after coming back from his flame out, while Gareth Bell claimed 2nd.

Robert Pietsch is 2007 German Champion

Robert Pietsch is German Champion

Just this weekend saw the German National Championship title race run for 1/8th scale at the Hamm track in the West of Germany, a race that would crown the new German National Champion. In qualifying it was Serpent racer Michael Salven that claimed the pole position ahead of Shepherd racer Robert Pietsch who would start 2nd. The start of the race was filled with drama as Salven missed the start changing tires and had to begin the race from the back of the grid meaning he would have to push from the start. With the race underway Pietsch could take the lead, but with Salven pushing hard he couldnt afford to relax, that was until Michael went off and with the motor starved of fuel sitting upside down, it stalled, which lost him 2 laps and so began another recovery drive. By the end of the race Salven had recovered to 3rd only a few seconds behind 2nd placed finisher Oliver Mack for Mugen, while the win went to Pietsch, driving the prototype Shepherd Velox.
