Tanner Day doubles at NIS Rd4

Tacoma RC Raceway of Tacoma, Washington held round 4 of the Northwest Indoor Series this past weekend. In the premier 2WD Modified Buggy class it was Yokomo’s Tanner Day with the overall TQ and he would also bring home the wins in the two opening A-mains for an early overall victory, leaving behind Yokomo’s Harley Yoshii in 2nd and Schumacher’s Mikey Brown in 3rd. Over in 4WD Modified Buggy it was again Tanner Day (Yokomo) with the overall TQ and after only scoring an 8th place A1, Tanner came back in A2 and A3 to take the overall win from Jackson Andres (Yokomo) in 2nd and Daniel Lea (TLR) in 3rd.

Adam Drake sweeps 2019 Holiday Hangover race

The 2019 Holiday Hangover was held in Moses Lake, Washington this past weekend, attracting over 270 entries. In the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Kyosho’s Mason Eppley with the overall TQ, however after the 30-minutes long A-main event it was Mugen’s Adam Drake who would hold the upper hand, taking the win a lap in front of Mason as Team Associated’s Nick Wautles ended the main in 3rd, another three laps down. Over in Nitro Truggy it was Adam Drake (Mugen) with the overall TQ and the veteran racer would also take the A-main by storm, leaving behind Nick Wautlet (Team Associated) in 2nd, some three laps down. Kyosho’s Cody Grams would end the A-main on the 3 spot, crossing the line some four seconds behind Nick.

Juan Carlos Canas wins at Spanish E-Buggy opener

The opening round of the Spanish 1/8th Electric Buggy National Championship was held at the Radovan track this past weekend. SWorkz’s Juan Carlos Canas (SWorkz/Maclan/6Mik) took the overall TQ after the qualifiers and he also came out on top in all three A-mains to take the day’s win in front of Xray’s Joan Espasa (Xray/Hobbywing/6Mik) and Kyosho’s Bryan Baldo (Kyosho/Reds Racing/Hotrace).

Kyle McBride sweeps Australian 1/8th Nationals

The Canberra Off Road Model Car Club held the Australian 1/8th Off-road Nationals this past weekend. In the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Infinity’s Kyle McBride who was able to lock his 9th consecutive Australian 1/8th Buggy title, leaving behind Mugen’s Aaron Stringer in 2nd while Craig Laughton came in 3rd. Over in the Truggy class it was also Kyle McBride with the win while Alex Bernadzik (Team Associated), had to settle for 2nd after a very promising showing in the A-main. Mugen’s Caleb Noble would round out the Truck top 3.

2018/19 BRCA LMP National Rd5 – Report

The fifth round of the 2018/19 BRCA 1/12th nationals took place in Poole last weekend. The Dorset club was looking for a repeat of their excellent event from last year and laid a technical track on a fantastically smooth carpet that had no tape joins and allowed for great racing. A capacity entry of 80 drivers thoroughly appreciated the Dorset club’s efforts. On Saturday racers competed in the 13.5 blinky stock championship with the field split into F1, F2 and F3 grades. In F1 championship leader David Spashett took pole position by the slimmest of margins from Ollie Payne. Previous national winner Olly Jeffries in his first event with his Schumacher car would line up third.

Rayan Medjoubi wins at Agathoise race

The 2019 Agathoise race was held at the Agde track near Montpellier, France last weekend. In the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Rayan Medjoubi with the win in the 20-minute main final, some 20 seconds in front of Eliot Marcon while Antoinne Guyonnet rounded out the top 3 result a lap down.

Xray Racing Series Slovenia Rd4 – Report

The fourth and final round of the 2018/19 Xray Racing Series Slovenia was held at the Genius Ring facility in Medeuzza recently. Drivers from six different countries – Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Italy and Slovenia – signed in for the final round with Germany’s electric on-road ace, Jan Ratheisky being one of them. The event was held in 13.5T Touring and 21.5T Formula classes with all of them using control XRS motors and Hudy tyres to make for a level playing field. The weekend kicked off with practice on Saturday while Sunday was race day. In the 13.5T Touring class it was Jan Ratheisky who would set the pace, leaving behind his Xray teammates Matej Dobnikar and Fabio Ghilotti in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

USVTA Triple Crown Rd1 – Report

Round 1 of the USVTA Triple Crown was held in Arlington Heights, Illinois at Windy City Raceway last weekend. The track and facility were top notch and the event ran smooth from beginning to end. The focus of the event were the classes governed by the USVTA rules, which included Formula, Vintage Trans Am, and United States Grand Touring. The Formula class saw 13 drivers from around the country, while VTA would see 22 and USGT 19. In qualifying, John Barron III (Xray) coming up from Tennessee would take the TQ in Formula with Rob King and Jimmy Stegen separated by .05 for 2nd and 3rd. VTA would see Clayton Young (Awesomatix) flying in from Maryland to take the TQ, with David Painter and Scott Windser rounding out the top three.  USGT would see local star Chris Sanchez (ARC) taking TQ honors over Clayton Young and Eric Schneeweis sitting 2nd and 3rd.
