BRCA 1/8th Circuit Nationals Rd1 – Report

With the first race of the new BRCA 1/8th Track season being at Cotswold Model Car Club as per the last few years, many racers turned up with one eye on the sky expecting weather conditions similar to the monsoon season. Saturday did not disappoint and the first half of the day was a wash out, with only a few racers braving the conditions, as the track dried drivers entered the process of getting the cars ready for qualifying on Sunday morning. Sunday came with a bright and cold start to the day, but most importantly dry. As the day progressed and the weather improved qualifying was to end with Mark Green in pole position.

Alexander Landen crowned WBC Cup 4WD champion

The penultimate round of the Swedish WBC Cup was held at the IRC Arena in Atvidaberg and hosted by the MSK Kvarnvingarna club. 4WD Buggy Championship leader, Aleander Landen would be the pre-event favourite but a stiff competition meant he only qualified on the 6th spot. After some great battles on the tight track, that made overtaking hard, he was crowned the overall champion though with Hampus Berg coming second and Elias Johansson third.

Kevin Thomas wins at Super Seven Series

Thunder Alley Raceway in North Carolina recently held a round of the Super Seven Series and in the 1/8th E-Buggy class it was Kevin Thomas who walked away with the win. After two rounds of qualifying, Kevin found himself second on the pole after narrowly edging out the third place driver by a tenth of a second and in the main, Kevin was able to get away cleanly and found himself in the lead for several laps. A miscue briefly dropped him to third but he was able to jump back up to second and eventually regain the lead where he would ultimately finish. Sean Kochik would come in second while Scott Belus rounded out the podium result.

Antros Lemesianos wins Cyprus Nitro Buggy opener

The opening round of the Cyprus Nitro Buggy Championship was held at the AG Metal Off Road Track in Limassol. In the A-main and after 45 dramatic minutes with head-to-head battles between last year’s champion, Andreas Thrasyvoulou and Antros Lemesianos, it was Antros who took the win with Andreas in second. Andeas Theodotou would round out the top 3 result.

Yaniv Sivan successful at Israeli League Rd7

Round 7 of the Israeli League off-road series was recently held at the Negev Speed track. After four rounds of qualifying Ofir Avitan took the TQ honours and he also jumped into the lead at the start of the main final, immediately opening a gap on the field while Aviv Maymon, coming from the 2 spot on the grid, had to retire early with electrical issues. Meanwhile Yaniv Sivan, who had started from 3rd on the grid, was promoted into 2nd. About 30 minutes into the race, two major battles took place with Or Balulu and Ido Carmon fighting for the 3rd place while Yaniv Sivan and Ofir Avitan made it out for the lead. Ultimately Yaniv was able to close the gap to Ofir in the closing stages, eventually passing him on the final lap to take the win from Ofir in second and Or in third.

Carlos Duraes wins at Portuguese Buggy opener

The recent opening round of the Portuguese 1/8th Buggy National Championship saw Carlos Duraes walking away with the win in the 1/8th E-Buggy class. Carlos would win the first and second A-main from a hard-charging Ricardo Monteiro to grab the overall win with one leg to spare. Ricardo would grab the overall runner-up spit while Joao Figueirdo completed the top 3 result thanks to a win in the final A-main.

Oliver Havranek wins at Czech Nationals Champs

The Czech National Championship was held in Holešov over the weekend with over 100 entries for the several electric on-road classes. In the Touring Stock class, Ludvik Kurecka (Serpent) set the fastest pace in practice but in the qualifiers he missed out the overall TQ by about a second as Xray’s Oliver Havranek set the fastest time. In the finals Ludvik was missing a bit of speed to catch up fast Oliver and finished second in first two A-mains. By winning the third and final leg he secured the overall runner-up spot behind Oliver while Karel Kratochvil (Xray) rounded out the top 3.

JC Spring Super Cup Championship Series Rd4 – Report

Round 4 of the JConcepts Spring Super Cup Championship Series was held at Coral Springs R/C Track. It was the last instalment of the 4-race Spring Series, which meant make it or break it for some in the overall points chase. With over 200 entries, the final race was ultra competitive and still had the excitement and buzz from round 1. Rising to the challenge in a very competitive 2WD Modified class, Jason Ruona would lay down the best run of the day when it mattered most. Having started 2nd on the grid, Ruona had his eyes on the prize and once the class TQ, Landen Lewis, made his early mistake, the race was over. Ruona would take the lead and checked himself out from the field. With a flawless race performance, Ruona would take the win leaving Daimon Borkowicz and Paul Wynn battling for 2nd. While defending 2nd place, Wynn’s car would get caught by the wind on the backside quad giving Borkowicz the position. Wynn would recover to finish in 3rd for an all Team Associated podium.
