Ronald Völker wins at MRCL Winter Series finale

The fifth and final round of the popular MRC Longwy Winter Series was held last weekend in a total of five different classes. Beside Touring Stock 10.5T and Superstock racing there was also a Touring Modified class that attracted some of Europe’s fastest drivers. Yokomo’s Ronald Völker would take the TQ honours from former Yokomo team mate Yannic Prümper who had his first official outing for new chassis sponsor VBC Racing. Behind the two Olivier Bultynck (Awesomatix) completed the top 3 result after the qualifiers. The A-main finals saw Ronald coming out fastest in A1 from Olivier Bultynck and Lucas Urbain (VBC Racing) while in A2 Yannic came out successful from Lucas and Ronald. Therefore the decision for the day’s win would be made in A3 where again Ronald was the man to beat as he grabbed the win from Yannic and Olivier, handing the German the overall victory from fellow countryman Yannic Prümper while Lucas Urbain had to settle for third.

Michael Kammer wins at LRP-HPI-Challenge

A round of the popular German LRP-HPI-Challenge was recently held in Halle, in the eastern part of the country. The MSC Halle club laid out a nice and challenging track and in the Touring Stock class Michael Kammer would grab the TQ after winning two of the three qualifying rounds. Fabian Erhardt and Steffen Stein would line up in second and third for the triple A-mains. In the opening main Fabian would take the win after a mistake of Michael but the latter stroke back in A2 and A3 to take the day’s win from Fabian and Steffen who matched their qualifying results.

Joseph Quagraine wins at Mexican Nationals Rd1

The opening round of the Mexican Off-road Nationals was held in Monterrey, Mexico. The event draw some 120 entries most of which attended in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class with Truggy and Electric Short Course classes also being run. JQRacing’s own Joseph Quagraine, who is currently on a US tour, managed to the TQ the Nitro Buggy class and he would also bring home the win from Felipe Martinez and Diego Marroquin.

Joel Valander doubles at Finnish Winter Jumps Series

The recent round of the Finnish Winter Jumps Series was held outside of Finland in Tallinn, Estonia with drivers from several countries in attendance. Saturday was devoted to the 2WD Buggy class and it was Joona Haatanen who grabbed the TQ in front of Joel Valander, who was fastest after the practice rounds. In the opening A-main Joel capitalised of a mistake of Joona, handing Valander the win from runner-up, Jörg Tiit. A2 then saw Joel only finish in third place due to a couple of errors but he stroke back in the third and decisive A-main when Joona opened the inside line on the first lap, allowing Joel to slip through. From that moment on he never looked back to take the win and with it the overall victory in the 2WD class.

Perez & Ortiz score at Spanish National Series Rd1

The opening round of the Spanish National Series was held at the CAPA club in Madrid. In the Touring Modified class David Perez, coming from the TQ spot, would win the opening A-main pretty easily but A2 was a different affair as after a bad start of David, Carlos Lambas would lead for a good part of the race until David found his groove in the very last minute which allowed him to overtake Carlos for the win with one final leg to spare. Overall, behind David, Eduardo Escandón and Javi Ferrando would make up the Modified class podium.

Philipp Walleser wins at MRC Winter Series Rd5

The fifth and final round of the MRC Winter Series was held in Longwy, France over the weekend. As usual the 10.5T Touring Stock class was the most popular, attracting over 40 drivers. Philipp Walleser would be on a mission as he not only took the TQ and the pole position for the finals but he would also come out successful in the triple A-mains to grab the overall win while scoring the fastest lap of the class in the progress. Behind him, Dirk Rischard and Jan Bickendorf completed the podium result in second and third respectively. Another driver to set the TQ, grab the win and score the fastest lap was young Julian Garbi in the Rookie class. He would leave Dryss Faivre and Raphael Brassart behind in second and third respectively.

Super Cup Championship Series Rd3 – Report

The popular Super Cup Championship Series headed north for race 3 of the 2016 Spring Session to a new track for the series, Newberry RC Park just outside of Gainesville. It takes many styling cues from the now retired Shiverville Raceway and with 199 entries and another nice sunny Florida day everyone had another great race day. Unfortunately a heavy downpour late Thursday night changed everything for Friday’s practice but the Newberry crew was not going to give up yet and spent most of Friday and into the early morning of Saturday to be sure the racers had a great surface to run on Saturday.

Yeung & Law successful at Sunpadow Strait Cup

After the successful China National Championship race in 2015, the Xiamen ARC International Raceway hosted the Sunpadow Strait Cup last weekend, attracting around 200 entries to race in the two classes of 1/8th EP Buggy and 1/8th GP Buggy. Racers from Hong Kong, Macau, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia and Mainland China attended the race with the ARC International Raceway being located inside an industrial park, offering a size of 70×40 metres and a true world-class facility to host high-level races. In the 1/8th E-Buggy class 13-years old Jonathan Yeung from Hong Kong would take the TQ but due to bad weather the finals would be cancelled, handing Jonathan the win based on the qualifying results. Sam Chen from Taiwan would take the runner-up spot while Taiwan’s Ngai would end the 2-day event in third.
