Zac Ryan wins Malaysian buggy nats Rd2

Zac Ryan wins Malaysian buggy nats Rd2

Malaysia has become a hotbed of off-road nitro racing in the past couple of years. This past weekend with the effort of the new Putrajaya club and Alvin Lam along with the huge support of the local Putrajaya city and government officials a new track was launched. The Putrajaya city is creating sporting facilities for Malaysians to enjoy and within 100m of the new track were a RC flying field, RC drift track, a lake for RC boating and a world-class swimming complex. Supported by beautiful hotels set on the water it’s a great place to race. 135 drivers from Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, and Brunei attended and would contest the second round of the national’s. Qualifying would be 3 rounds of 10-minute heats with the best 2 of 3 to count. Round one ended up being dropped due to a transponder loop issue so it would be best 1 of 2 rounds to count on Saturday. TQ went to new factory JConcepts driver Zac Ryan from Australia. With his first outing on the JC rubber and a brand new MP9 Tki3 he would be tough to beat as he led the timesheets. Close behind him was Felix Tan (JQ/GO/AKA) and Didier Perrin (Mugen/Novarossi/AKA).

Shepherd driver Chris Steele was the man to beat at the first round of the Irish National 1/10 nitro on-road Championship as he set a blistering TQ run with his Shepherd Velox V10. Hot on his heels followed Shepherd driver Darren Gibb also using a Velox V10 as well as Anthony Fitzpatrick, Colm Gaffney, Jacek Zadrozny and Stephen O’Connor which were close on pace all day. The 30 minutes final saw a great start from pole sitter Chris defending his position up front. In the following laps Darren was trying to keep up but the gap increased lap by lap. Anthony, Colm and Jacek were in a close battle at the start until Jacek ran into engine trouble. This separated the field a lot and in the following also Colm ran into trouble and had to retire. Bart Mullink wins Dutch nationals Rd 1

Bart Mullink wins Dutch nationals Rd 1

The first round of the Dutch 1/8th off-road nationals took place at the Mach One track in Hellmond on a redesigned astroturf track. The circuit bit sports high speed chicanes and very technical and bumpy sections meaning loads of set-up work to do for the drives in Saturday’s practice sessions. Sunday saw an early start of the proceedings with as over 70 drivers attending. Qualifying round one was dominated by Team C driver Jordy Velder with round two and three being won by TLR’s Bart Mullink. After a promising start into the day the heaven opened sometime during qualifying round two meaning a lot of hassle for the pilots. At the end it was Serpent driver Kay Koops who took the overall TQ for the final with Bastiaan Ghielen (Mugen) and Bart Mullink in tow. Five minutes into the final disaster stroke for Bart who stranded with an empty fuel tank but he quickly found back into action and chased Kay and Jeffrey who left Bastiaan behind. Around the 15 minutes mark Kay experienced engine problems handing Jeffrey the lead but only until Bart was able to overtake him around the 20 minutes mark eventually winning the race with one lap over Jeffrey and Jordy.
