Dominic Greiner leaves Serpent

In a message on social media, Dominic Greiner has announced his departure from long-time chassis sponsor Serpent. The 2016 IFMAR World and reigning EFRA 1/10th Nitro Touring European Champion leaves behind a very fruitful 7-year campaign that also had its downs, such as running into mechanical troubles while leading during the closing stages of the 2019 IFMAR 1/8th IC Track Worlds final. Dominic for now leaves open what is next for him, and in the meantime he has the following to say:

[…] I must inform that my cooperation with Serpent will end this year. I had a couple of sleepless nights after the world championship, but when I look back the 7 years, in the end I had more bad luck as luck, and lost my motivation step by step. I was even thought about to stop with rc racing, because it is a hard job to be competitive all the time as a semi professional driver with a normal job and limited time to test. But in maybe the best time in my career I want to continue and for that I decided to choose an another car brand for new motivation and a new challenge at least the next two years. I want to thank all the people which were involved in the last 7 years and gave me the opportunity to become one of the best nitro rc driver in the world. Jirka Hassler, Ronald Baar, Michael Salven, Jill Salven, Joaquin Desoto and Mr Lau. I know I was not every time a easy driver, but in the end I guess we did a great job together.

Reedy Off-road Race of Champions announce ’20 tires

The Reedy Race have announced that JConcepts and Pro-Line will continue to be the official tire and insert suppliers for the 26th running of the Reedy International Off-Road Race of Champions. The only tire/foam combinations allowed at the event are the Pro-Line MC Electron (#8239-17) and Pro-Line Closed Cell Inserts (#6185-03) for 2WD front, as well as the Pro-Line MC Positron (#8256-17) and Pro-Line V2 Closed Cell Inserts (#6185-04) for 2WD rear while 4WD buggy will use JConcepts Silver Ellipse (#3198-06) and JConcepts Closed Cell Inserts (#3230) for the front and JConcepts Silver Ellipse (#3196-06) and JConcepts Closed Cell Inserts (#3232) for the rear. All the tires and foam are 2.2” size and may only be mounted on 2.2” wheels. A complete list of tire rules will be updated and can be found here. A designated tire saucing area will be set up and all application of the provided controlled tire additive must be done at this location. Included with each entry is one set of branded control tires and inserts. These will be distributed after OCRC open practice on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020 that runs from 3pm-8pm. Any tire used during a scored round at the Reedy Race must have a branding mark from the event which is only available for purchase from OCRC Raceway during the event dates of January 23-26, 2020.

Rheinard running for Schumacher at 1/12th Worlds

Schumacher have announced that 4-time IFMAR World Champion Marc Rheinard has chosen their Eclipse 3 as his weapon of choice for the 2020 IFMAR 1/12th scale World Championships in the UK. The Infinity factory driver as well as Schumacher are looking forward for this special race with the 2014 IFMAR 1/12th scale World Champion being keen to add another pan car Worlds title to his belt.

10th Annual Charity Race – Announcement

The tenth edition of the popular Charity Race will be held at the RC Landia indoor carpet track in Scandiano, Italy on the weekend of the 25th and 26th of January 2020. The race will see the running of Touring Modified, Touring Stock EFRA, Formula, 1/12th Pan Car and the newly added classes of USGT, GT12 and FWD. Beside the fastest Italian electric on-road racers, European Pro drivers such as Ronald Völker have announced their attendance. Due to the limited pit space the entries are capped off at 120 drivers with the first Pro drivers having already signed up. The race will be held on CRC carpet using Volante ETS tyres for the touring cars and formula classes, Ride ETS tyres for USGT and FWD and Contact handout tyres for GT12. Like the years before, Team La Gang will hold a charity lottery for the good cause. Nagashima, Huang & Shum to attend OneTen Shanghai

OneTen Series organisers are excited to announce more big names for the 5th and 6th round of this season which takes place in Shanghai on the 4th and 5th of January. Having previously announced Marc Rheinard and JJ Wang, we can confirm that Serpent racer Yugo Nagashima, who made his series debut at Rd3 & 4 in Guangzhou, will return to RCI V2, the scene of his popular AOC win back in April. National Champion, and recent winner of the SIGP Nitro class, Gary Huang will be aiming to continue his recent run of good results with the Chinese driver hoping to benefit from being joined at this event by Xray team mate Wang. Making the trip from Hong Kong, showing a recent improvement in form, Jackie Shum will boost the Yokomo team’s chances against the best in the OneTen series, which for this weekend will run alongside the exciting new SGP1 Formula series. Volker & Donath win at EWS International

The 2019 edition of the EWS International took place last weekend. Ronald Volker initially set the pace during qualifying in the Modified class, and then on Sunday morning made it a clean sweep by topping all four rounds with his development Yokomo chassis. Behind him, long time Marc Rheinard secured second on the grid for Infinity, the German also running a prototype car as Infinity continue to test their upcoming IF14-II. Lucas Urbain was the big mover on Sunday morning, with third place in Q4 moving the Frenchman up to third on the A Final grid. Yannic Prumper and Christopher Krapp rounded out the overall top five, with the Xray trio of Alexander Hagberg, Bruno Coelho and Elliott Harper not able to replicate the pace they had shown throughout practice and having to start the finals from deep in the field. The A Final line up was completed by former event champion Kyle Branson, and Awesomatix’s Loic Jasmin. Alex Thurston was the unlucky BQ driver, missing out on the final place on a tie-break with Loic by three-tenths of a second.

Mibosport Cup Rd3 – Report

The third round of the 2019/20 Mibosport Cup was held last weekend at its usual venue, the Hotel Sport in Hrotovice, Czech Republic. The event marked the season climax and the final round of this year with everyone being in Christmas mood already. Getting to the venue was less of a fun affair due to icy road conditions on Friday, this however did not affect action on the track as more than 200 drivers from as far as the UK and Denmark found their way to the Czech Republic. Both the on-road and off-road tracks were ready on Friday so the free practice starting at 4 o’clock in the afternoon would kick off with no issues. The grip level was enormous so there was some room to improve setup somehow to adapt to conditions. In the premier on-road class of Touring Car Modified Matej Sulc cemented his role as the pre-event favourite and showed just the rear part of his car. Mads Koue, coming all the way from Denmark, ended up with a nice 2nd place right in front of Kuba Simurda. Brano Panak was another surprise as he finished 4th and Petr Grof completed the top 5.

Völker locks up pole position at EWS International

Ronald Völker has secured the overall TQ position at this year’s EWS International, after setting the fastest times in all three rounds of qualifying held today. Featuring the strongest line up in the event’s eight year history, the Yokomo pilot said he was “surprised” to have topped all three rounds, noting how close the top five were each time out. Making a number of changes throughout the day to his development Yokomo chassis, which features a number of parts in preparation for the BD10 release later this month, Völker said he was still chasing traction and will use tomorrow’s final qualifier to test some final ideas. Fellow German, Marc Rheinard, sits second after Saturday’s racing, the Infinity pilot taking a second and two third places today. Chasing his first win at the event, the Infinity pilot is also using a prototype car as the company looks to prepare it’s next generation of IF14 chassis. Defending race winner, Yannic Prümper sits third overall, with Lucas Urbain and Christopher Krapp rounding out the top five.
