Team Associated Top Gun Shootout - Announcement

Team Associated have announced the 2nd Annual Team Associated Top Gun Shootout hosted by SD/RC Raceway in San Diego, California. The two-day event takes place July 6-7th 2013 with qualifying on Saturday and triple A-main events on Sunday. With a large 128′ x 74′ footprint, SD/RC is one of the largest indoor tracks in the nation and is suitable for both 1:10 and 1:8 racing. Scheduled to attend for Team Associated is 4x World Champion Ryan Cavalieri, 2012 Off-Road Shootout Champion Steven Hartson, Team Manager Brent Thielke, Jason Ruona of JConcepts, and many others from across the West coast. JConcepts 1/8th Spring Nationals report

JConcepts headed to Nebraska for the 4th annual JConcepts 1/8th Spring Nationals at the HobbyPlex in Omaha. The fabulous indoor track was once again filled with the Alex Sturgeon creation to challenge all drivers. The flowing fun layout was definitely busy to keep everyone on their toes, and going consistently fast with no mistakes would be a challenge. The format was Friday practice. With heavy rain on Thursday night and Friday morning, being inside was awesome. More rain on Saturday followed by 3 rounds of qualifying, racing never missed a beat thanks to the HobbyPlex racing circuit. Sunday would be main day to cap off the event.

Maifield, Hinz & Miller win 2013 Dirt Invert

The 1st Annual Dirt Invert event was held at One Hobbies in Peoria, AZ, with a great turnout of local drivers and seasoned Arizona pros. The One Hobbies facility was the perfect setting for the debut of a new format of racing which involves triple A-mains, an interesting twist of inverted 2nd and 3rd main starts and scoring which utilizes all 3 main event scores. The format which is endorsed by Brian “Dirt” Kinwald drew the attention of many spectators and curious locals who wanted to see the favorite drivers come from the back of the pack.

Hank Perry 240 wins for Potter, Buechler & Tjepkema

Round 2 of the NCT series also know as “The Hank Perry 240” was held once again in Spokane Washington over Memorial Day weekend. This is one of the largest events in the Northwest with this year being no exception at close to 275 entries and drivers from all over the Northwest and Western Canada. The biggest class the entire weekend was the always exciting electric buggy class. In three very close qualifying rounds Tekin’s own Jeremy “PG” Potter would take his Hot Bodies D812/Tekno converted Buggy to the overall TQ followed closely by Tekin team mates Jordan Hestness, Jayson Tjepkema and Nick Buechler. Potter would take it to the field in A1 and A2 and come away with the overall win. In A3 Buechler would run away with it and take 2nd overall with Tjepkema rounding out the podium.

Jared Tebo double at AKA Mid-America Champs

Speed Monkey R/C hosted the AKA Mid-America Championship on May 24-26 in Dallas, Texas. With a cap of 200 entries, the race quickly filled up to max capacity with the appeal of a $50 entry including a set of AKA control tires (Soft Impacts for buggy/truggy and Soft Enduro 2 for SC). AKA team drivers dominated the field of racers. Jared Tebo led the team with a pair of TQ’s in Pro Buggy and Pro Truggy followed by easily winning both mains by 2 laps on the field. Josh Wheeler was able to give teammate Tebo some pressure throughout the race and earn himself a pair of 2nd place finishes. Mark Pavidis rounded out the podium in Pro Buggy, and Ryan Lutz would go on to finish 3rd in Pro Truggy.

Mibosport Offroad Meeting 2013 – Announcement

After completing their very successful Winter race series Mibosport now announce the Offroad Meeting 2013. Organised with the support of Yokomo the race will take place at the Mibosport astro turf track in Trebic, near Hrotovice on the weekend of the 30th of June. The main purpose of the race is to have fun and this is reflected by the time schedule that sees free practice on Friday with control practice on Saturday and the finals on Sunday. A Saturday night dash for cash race rounds out the package. The meeting is run in 2WD and 4WD buggy classes as well as SC truck on dBoots Nanobyte tyres. Find more information here.

Dave Henry triple at RC Pro Canada Rd1

This past weekend saw round 1 of the RCPro Ontario provincial series in Canada. The 100+ entry event was hosted by the Durham Offroad Rc Club in Bowmanville Ontario about 45 minutes east of Toronto and the all volunteer track crew did a great job shaping the layout for this, their first big event outside of their own series races. The track offered a good mix of challenging high speed sweepers along with some tricky rhythm sections and a good level of grip under beautiful blue skies. TLR’s Dave Henry took home the top honors in all 3 classes he entered. Dave used Nitrotane fuel to help 2 stop the 30 minute final with the TLR 8ight 3.0, while In 1/8 eBuggy Dave used his freshly built TLR 8ight 3.0 to win the final two mains of the triple main format to secure the win. He managed the same feat in 4wd SC with the TLR 2.0 SCTE to complete the triple.

Geoffrey Vekemans wins Belgian Superstock nats Rd3

The third round of the Belgian electric Superstock touring car nationals took place at the RCR track in Roeselare. Geoffrey Vekemans took TQ in the Superstock class in front of Gregory Werniers and Stefan Rommens. Maxim Naegels lead the best of the rest. In the second lap of the first A final Geoffrey made a little mistake and Gregory took the lead. Geoffrey was fighting back and closing on Gregory but made another mistake and Gregory was gone and took the win. Meanwhile Stefan Rommens was attacking Geoffrey but not able to overtake. Geoffrey came in second and Stefan third. The second final was a better run for Geoffrey and it was now Gregory who made the mistake. Maxim pulled very fast laps and was running in second. Meanwhile Dominique Morsa scored the fastest lap of this final and finished fifth. Geoffrey took the win just in front of Maxim and Stefan in third. The last A final would decide the winner of the race. Geoffrey took the lead and later on the win and it was Renaud Gysembergh, who started from seventh place, who drove a splendid third final and took second place. Christophe Charlier came in third. The first place handed Geoffrey Vekemans (ARC) the overall win, Gregory Werniers (Team Associated) took the runner up spot. Corally driver Stefan Rommens completed the podium.
