MRC Longwy Winter Series Rd1 – Report

The MRC Longwy club hosted round 1 of the popular MRC Longwy Winter Series this past weekend. The race attracted both national and international drivers and in the Touring Modified class it was Thimo Weissbauer who took the TQ and win in front of his Awesomatix teammates Tim Wahl in 2nd and Lucas Urbain 3rd. Loic Jasmin and Remi Callens came in 4th and 5th respectively.

BRCA 1/12th scale Nationals Rd2 – Report

The second round of the 2018/19 BRCA 1/12th nationals took place in Birtley last weekend. The event saw a continuation of the increased entry from the first round with 70 drivers attending the event. The Birtley club laid a fast and flowing track which developed a high grip level throughout the weekend requiring a fast and consistent drive to achieve a good result. On Saturday racers competed in the 13.5 Blinky Stock championship with the field split into F1, F2 and F3 grades. In the F1 class current European Stock champion Ollie Payne put his car on pole ahead of defending British Champion David Spashett and a fast charging Adam Catchpole in 3rd. Ollie was to take a tone to tone win gaining a small advantage early on and maintaining this throughout the race. The front two cars had a relentless pace and lapped the whole field. Adam Catchpole unfortunately caught a track marker early on and had to retire his car allowing Mark Stiles to secure 3rd place from 5th on the grid.

Adam Drake makes the triple at 2018 JBRL Nitro Series

The 8th and final round of the JBRL Nitro Series was held at Hot Rod Hobbies in Santa Clarita, California this past weekend. In the Expert Buggy class it was Mugen’s Adam Drake with the TQ and win from Team Associated’s Jake Mayo and HB Racing pilot Anthony Westergaard. With the win Drake also cemented the overall title from Westergaard on the runner-up spot. Tekno RC’s Carlos Arredondo would come in 3rd overall.

Alessandro Balboni wins at Trofeo Capricorn

Last weekend the Trofeo Capricorn took place at the famous Jody Scheckter track in Fiorano, Italy. Alessandro Balboni showed a great performance, clocking the fastest lap in the 1/10th 200mm A-main and after 30 minutes of high-class racing he crossed the finish line in first position, some two laps in front of pole-setter Luca Manosperta with French driver David Simoes completing the podium in 3rd.

Brad Borneill wins at PDX Underground Rd4

Round 4 of the PDX Underground series as held at PDX Underground in Portland, Oregon this past weekend. In 2WD Modified Buggy it was the Yokomo trio of Brad Borneill, Brian Stromberg, and Kevin Focht that finished on the top 3 spots. In 13.5T 4WD Buggy Mike Nguyen and Jeff Snavely finished 1st and 2nd while in 17.5T Pro Stock Buggy it was Jeff Snavely and Mike Nguyen with the top 2 spots.

Bona & Sartel successful at Coupe des Champions race

The 2018 Coupe des Champions race was held in Louvres, France this past weekend. In the 2WD Modified Buggy class it was young Clément Boda (Team Associated) with the win in the A-mains as top qualifier, Mathieu Brière (Xray) had to settle for 2nd. Xray’s Jean-Pierrick Sartel came in 3rd to round out the podium. Over in the 4WD Mod Buggy class it was Jean-Pierrick Sartel with the TQ for Xray and he would also bring home the win in the A-main from Mathieu Brière (Xray) in 2nd. Team Associated’s Clément Boda rounded out the top 3 podium results.

Yugo Nagashima takes Australian TC Mod title

The 2018 Australian Electric On-road National Championships were held at England Park Raceway in Brisbane this past weekend. In the Touring Modified class it was Yokomo’s Simon Nicholson with the TQ, however he had bad luck in A1 where he broke his car and also had to use a broken car in A2 so it was Destiny’s Yugo Nagashima with the overall win from Yokomo’s Nicholas Lee in 2nd. Team Associated’s Christopher Sturdy snatched the final podium spot as Simon Nicholson was able to recover the 4th overall courtesy of his win in the third and final A-main.

AWS 2019 Rd2 – Report

The second round of the AWS 2019 was held at North West Nitro in the UK this past weekend with 55 drivers in attendance. The day kicked off with a round of practice followed by three rounds of qualifying in the same order as the practice round. With the track starting to dry out and the lap time becoming faster and more consistent, the fight for the top spots in the meeting was really good. With three rounds of qualifying completed just after 1pm it was Jon Howells with the TQ from Wez Jolly while the third place was taken by Peter Jones. Buggy was different as after three rounds of qualifying it was Lloyd Pitt with the TQ from local driver Chris Sharpe-Simkiss and John Isherwood.
