Craig Collinson joining Xray factory team

Xray have announced the addition of UK 1/10th electric off-road frontrunner, Craig Collinson to their factory team. The former BRCA nationals winner will use the company’s XB2 and XB4 platforms at events such as the BRCA nationals and regionals, the Schumacher Masters and Bury Winter series. Craig says:

I’m absolutely thrilled at this opportunity to be joining the Xray Factory Team. It’s no secret Xray are an extremely professional company who take pride in manufacturing the fastest cars out there, matched with quality second to none. I can’t wait to get started running the latest XB2 and XB4, both of which have already proved themselves at the highest level of competition. I look forward to working with the rest of the UK team and showcasing the cars to the best of my abilities at the BRCA Nationals and all other UK events. Huge thanks to Greg Hill at RC Disco, the guys at the Xray factory and the UK team for their warm welcome. Despite the nickname ‘Hulk’ I’m actually quite an approachable person, so if anyone is interested in the cars or has any questions then don’t hesitate to come speak with me and the Xray team trackside.

Kaja Novotny doubles at Czech Open Challenge Rd1

The opening round of the Czech Open Challenge electric indoor series was held in Ruzyne. The purpose-built track features a fairly easy layout that promised closes racing, however the pretty old carpet only offered low traction, making for a completely different feeling compared to today’s form of indoor racing. The 2WD class was quite a challenge for everyone due to the low traction, the linoleum parts, high speed corners and huge jumps. Marcel Dostal (Xray) was on point in Q1, but eventually Kaja Novotny (Xray) managed to snatch the TQ in that run. Optimising his buggy’s setup Kaja would also take the remaining rounds and also in the finals Kaja would pull away to take the overall while Marcel Dostal and Michal Blahovsky (Xray) battled it out for the overall with the better end for Marcel while Michal had to settle for 3rd.

Austrian 1/10 Electric Off-road Nats Rd5 – Report

The fifth and final round of the Austrian Electric Off-road Nationals was held at the MRC-Traiskirchen club close to Vienna. The track underwent a major redesign with the former dirt track now being laid out with astroturf. However the natural contours have been preserved to ensure an off-road feeling, making the track very technical. Classes run were 2WD Buggy, 4WD Buggy and 2WD Truck and it was Team Associated’s Peter Pinisch who took the overall TQs in all categories. In the 2WD A-main 2WD there were tough but fair fights between Peter Pinisch and Yokomo driver, Lucas Grainer. In the end Peter would prevail to take the win from Lucas on the 2 spot. David Chichizola wins at Wednesday Night Race

Speedworld Raceway in Roseville, California held their first official Wednesday Night Race recently. In 17.5T Touring it was David Chichizola with the overall TQ from Alex Fera 2nd and track owner, Thello Jordan in 3rd. Off the line, Thello got a much better start than David and Alex and by the first corner was leading, with Alex in 2nd, and David in 3rd. About lap eight or so, Alex touched a curb in the darkest section of that track that he couldn’t see and rolled the car. It took a few seconds to get marshalled, but that was all it took for David to get by and begin chasing down Thello. Fortunately for Alex, the two of them got tangled up together and as a result, Thello’s car did not finish the race. Hearing this, Alex started pushing as hard as he could to try and close the gap up to David out front, but never quite got there. Ultimately Davis finished 1st, Alex finished 2nd about three seconds back, and Thello was 3rd.
