Hollander & Hill win at SARDA EP Off-road Nats finale

The last round of the 2017 SARDA National Series was held at Ultra Raceway in Pretoria, South Africa. It was a two day event with three heats of qualifying being held on the Saturday and three heats of mains being held on the Sunday. The track is an outdoor carpet surface with extremely high traction and this lead to some exciting high-speed racing for the weekend in all the various classes. 2WD Modified and 4WD Modified were action packed and it was Charles Hollander who took a TQ and 1st place in the A-mains and managed to keep the same pace going to take TQ and 1st place A-mains in 4WD. Charles also rounded the year as South African Champion in both Modified classes.

Woodyard scores Nitro Truggy win at Fall Brawl warm-up

The warm-up race for the Fall Brawl at Badlands was held this past weekend. Austin Woodyard had a good day in Nitro Truggy as he not only took the TQ but he also walked away with the win in the A-main final. Jake Stikeleather came in 2nd from Colin Hanna 3rd.

Super Cup Championship Series Rd3 – Report

The JConcepts Super Cup Championship Series made its way to Ocala, Florida last weekend to Newred Hobbies for round 3 of the 4 round fall series. This unique track is one of Florida’s longest running indoor facilities and will celebrate 15 years of operation next year in 2018. With a history and heritage, Newred has also looked towards the future by evolving with new style wood/carpet jumps making track rebuilds much faster and easier without the need to shape jumps and move large piles of dirt.

Saxton & Drake win at JBRL Nitro Series Rd8

Round 8 of the Jimmy Babcock Racing League Nitro Series was held at R/C Tracks of Las Vegas with over 170 entries. In the premier Expert Nitro Buggy class it was Mugen’s Adam Drake with the TQ and he would also come out fastest in the Open Nitro Truggy class. However in the 15-minute Expert Buggy main it was Team Associated’s Richard Saxton with the win, coming from the 3 spot in the grid. Adam would end the race on the 2nd place some four seconds behind Richard and only 0.7 seconds in front of Aaron Gomez (Mugen). In the Open Truggy A-main Adam was able to take a dominant win, one lap in front of Team Associated’s A.J. Schumacher and Tekno RC’s Carlos Arredondo in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Max Flurer teams up with Yokomo

Yokomo have announced another big signing to their US race team with Max Flurer. Max is very well known in the industry as a great guy who works extremely hard and can lay it down with the best of them. Max began testing the YZ-2 DTM 2WD buggy last month where he instantly found success. Max went onto take a podium finish at his first race with the car in the 2WD Modified Buggy class at round 4 of the JConcepts Indoor National Series at RC Excitement in Massachusetts. Then a few weeks later Max took the impressive 2WD Modified Buggy win at the 2017 Masters of Dirt Race hosted by Beach RC & Hobbies in South Carolina.

Essex Winter Series Rd2 – Report

The second round of the 2017/2018 Essex Winter Series took place this weekend at the usual indoor venue in the south-east of the UK. Another fully booked out meeting saw the 110 entries greeted by a band new carpet, identical to that used successfully at the ETS race in Vienna just one week before. In the Modified class, the winner of the opening round of the championship, Olly Jefferies, was looking to continue to build his championship lead – but he was going to have his work cut out as Schumacher’s Elliott Harper set the pace in the opening round, one-and-a-half seconds quicker than Olly’s Xray. Harley Eldridge, no longer classed as a junior this season, took her Yokomo to third in the round, ahead of Olly’s team-mate Alexander Hagberg.

Mathieu Briere doubles at French Champions Cup

The final round of the French 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals, the Champions Cup, was held in Merlevenez on a purpose-built indoor carpet track. Xray’s Mathieu Briere was the man to beat in 2WD Modified Buggy as the took the overall TQ with the only 17-laps run and he also came out fastest in the opening two A-mains to take the overall win early and in front of Xray teammates Valenti Peuziat and Thibault Berthier.

Hohwart crowned ROAR Paved On-road TC Mod champ

The 2017 ROAR Electric On-road Paved Nationals were held at N-Control in Dale, Texas this past weekend after the event had to be rescheduled due to the devastating Texas flooding earlier this year. In the Touring Modified class Rick Hohwart (Team Associated) and Chris Adams (Xray) battled for the TQ with the better end for Rick who took the pole position for the A-mains in the tie-breaker. Chris Adams came in 2nd from Randy Caster (Team Associated) 3rd. The opening A-main then saw Randy Caster taking a narrow win from Serpent’s Ralph Burch but Rick stroke back in A2 and A3 to take the overall from Randy 2nd and Ralph 3rd. Chris Adams had to settle for 4th overall in front of Team Associated’s Keven Heber in 5th.
