Joel Eaton wins Super Stock Buggy at April Fools Classic

The April Fools Classic hosted by Murf’s Intermountain R/C Raceway for the past 29 years hit a record high 365 entries this year. Super Stock Buggy was a nail biter for Joel Eaton (Xray). Starting from the TQ position lap 1 was perfect for him but entering the infield burm turn on lap 2 his car unexpectedly hit a bump and flipped causing the car to fly end over end onto the straightaway. Luckily for him most of the field also had issues through the 180 degree burm turn and Joel was able to rejoin in 3rd. By lap 3 he was already back in second and had a race long chase to catch leader Charley Cavalier (TLR) with in the closing stages. Pushing Charlie he made a mistake over the huge booter triple that allowed Joel to pass as he crashed. Eaton was able to hit his marks and take home the win from there, taking home the win from Charlie Cavalier 2nd and Tony Newland (Schumacher) 3rd.

Alex Thurston wins BRCA 1/10th Touring Nats Rd1

The opening round of the British 1/10th Nitro Touring Championship was held at the Cotswolds circuit. In the main final and after a bit of an action packed start everyone broke off into their own groups. Alex Thurston was in a comfortable 3rd place until the leader, who was Mark Green at the time, had a crash which cost him some time and put him behind Alex. That was where the two’s race battle started, both were fighting for a long time back and forth making overtakes sometimes three or four times per lap. Meanwhile, while the two were battling for 2nd place, the race leader had an incident which put Alex and Mark fighting for the lead. After the last pit stop Mark came out behind Alex. Green went inside, outside, hard into the corner, slow into the corner but Thurston had him covered off. With just a few minutes remaining Mark tried to overtake but hit a kerb and went off track with left Alex an easy coast to the end of the race where he would take the win some 8 to 9 seconds up the road from Mark. Fellow Serpent driver John Zottl completed a Serpent podium lockout.
