Round 5 of the Heart of America Series was held this past weekend in 1/8th Open, 1/10th 200mm Nitro Sedan, and 1/8th GT classes. 1/8th Open would see John Peck with the overall TQ, however it was Jason Reger (Capricorn) with the win in the A-main, some nine laps in front of fellow Capricorn racer, Chris Nichols. Bob Block (Mugen) came in 3rd overall, another three laps down.

The inaugural Norwegian Scala Class 2 Nationals were held in Molen in the Southeast of Norway with 39 entries for the event. The race took place on six different courses and it soon became clear that the fight for the top positions would be between Paul Erik Bastiansen (SCXHR/Holmes Hobbies) and Robin Slåttekjær (SCX2-based/Tekin) with Erling Trolsrud (TRX4-based/Holmes Hobbies). In the end it was Paul Erik Bastiansen who would hold the upper hand to take the Norwegian title in front of Robin Slåttekjær and Tor-Erling Trolsrud.
The final round of the Swedish 1/8th off-road nationals was held at the Furulund track this past weekend. David Ronnefalk (HB Racing) took the overall TQ after the five round of qualifiers with Hampus Berg (HB Racing) and Jessica Palsson (Agama) coming in 2nd and 3rd, all winning at least one qualifying round. The 45-minute main final saw David got off to a good start and he was able to extend his lead and manage his race from there. Ultimately he brought home the win a lap in front of Jessica Palsson with Hampus Berg rounding out the top 3 result. With the win, David secured his 16th national title.

Round 4 of the SMRC club racing series was held last weekend in 2WD, 4WD, and 2WD Stock Buggy classes. In 4WD it was Xray’s Adam Iszay with the overall TQ from Antonia Kovalszki (Xray) in a close 2nd. In the finals it was pretty much the same with Adam and Antonia pulling away from the field and after some great fights it was Adam with the overall win from Antonia in 2nd. Rene Muller came in 3rd overall to round out an all-Xray podium.

The well-known EWS Essex Winter Series team has announced that the EWS Summer Edition event will return in 2020. Following the delay to racing due to the Coronavirus situation, the event will take place on 5th and 6th September at the Colchester Model Car Club venue in Essex, UK. With classes for Modified Touring, Super Stock Touring and Front Wheel Drive, Saturday is an optional day of practice, with the race event taking place on Sunday. The South East Wyoming RC Club hosted the 2020 Cheyenne Showdown last weekend, drawing a 266 entry field. Tekno RC’s Jared Tebo was the man to beat in Pro Nitro Buggy and he would bring home the TQ and also the win in the 30-minute A-main event. Some two laps behind it was Camden Lime (SWorkz) on the runner-up spot from Xray’s Zac Gastelum in 3rd. Justin Myerson and Zeke Ballinger would round out the top 5 result.
Last weekend’s Finnish 1/8th Off-road Nationals were held at the Vaasa track in nitro and electric classes. While Joona Haatanen walked away with the win in the Nitro Buggy class, it was Jarno Siltanen (Mugen) with the TQ and win in the E-Buggy category. The opening A-main would see Karri Salmela (Team Associated) taking the win with a 3-seconds margin from Mikko Luopajärvi (Team Associated), however the pole position holder stroke back in A2 and A3 to seal the title from Karri in 2nd and local hero Mikko in 3rd.

The Telford Reedy Race was held in the UK last weekend with the event format being based on the famous Reedy Race style of heads up racing – no qualifiers against the clock. 32 drivers were split into groups of four cars and each driver raced against each other driver at least once over four rounds of four minute racing. Tom Yardy was able to take comfortable wins in all of his races on the bumpy astroturf surface. Unlike the normal Reedy race, the format was adapted slightly from this point, with the top eight drivers based on their combined best race results going into two semi-finals and the top two from each race would then contest the main final. Tom started his semi from pole and quickly gapped the field to take the win and with the fastest time from both semis, he would start the main final from the front of the grid. In the final, Tom set the fastest time of the day to take a comfortable overall win from Mathew Dodd and Tony Bishop.
