Marco Kaufmann wins at Pegasus Masters

Marco Kaufmann wins at Pegasus Masters

The Pegasus Masters was held in Piding, Germany with 96 entries in four electric on-road classes. The track was made using the famous ETS carpet and the control tyre for the Touring classes was the Volante indoor tyre. In the Touring Modified class Marco Kaufmann (Xray) would dominate right from the start by coming out fastest after the practice and scoring round TQs in the first three qualifiers on Saturday. Despite posting the only 24 laps run the whole weekend Marco struggled on Sunday when Q4 and Q5 went to Xray teammate Tim Wahl. In the finals the fight was then on between Marco and Tim with the latter taking the win in the opening main following an early mistake of Marco. Kaufmann though stroke back with a win in A2, meaning the decision over the overall win would be made in the third and final A-main. From the tone both tried to open a gap on the field and due to the tight nature of the track overtaking was difficult and so Marco would hold the upper hand to take the win in A3 and with it the overall victory from Tim Wahl and Dominic Vogl (Yokomo).

WCICS Rd2 – Report

WCICS Rd2 – Report

The Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series round 2 was held among the beautiful wine country of Penticton, British Columbia. Hosted by the PRCC Club, this race just keeps on growing. After doubling last year, they were again up an astounding 50 percent, due in large part to the amazing creativity of the organizers. This year, every racer received a WCICS 25th Anniversary pit towel, personalized with their name. In addition, as the race weekend fell on WCICS President Josh Carter’s birthday, this club surprised him with a beautiful cake, and an entire gymnasium of RC racers singing Happy Birthday. On the racing side of things in the Modified Touring class National Champion, Xray driver Blake Bell drove his T4 from pole to checkered without looking back. But he was never alone, with Orca’s Keith Yu close behind in 2nd, and Awesomatix’s Korgae Scales in third, the three crossing the line just a few seconds apart, with almost exactly the same fast lap times.

Tamiya Kakegawa Circuit gets a renewal

Tamiya Kakegawa Circuit gets a renewal

Tamiya’s iconic Kakegawa Circuit is celebrating its 20 anniversary next year and while the original circuit, that once was the largest permanent track in the world, is still in pretty good shape the track will get a major make-over to turn it from an outdoor track into an all-weather indoor facility. Two huge tents will keep the elements away from both the track and the pits and beside the waterproofing the track itself will also see a revision with a new layout and more. The completion of the construction work is planned for May 2016 and we really look forward seeing the result.
